Did Mary forewarn of a nuclear war at Akita? If I remember correctly, she said something about a cataclysm “worse than the Flood”, in which “not even the faithful will be spared”.

I didn’t make this connection until the other day, after watching the 1983 TV movie, The Day After, which frighteningly depicts my hometown of Kansas City being vaporized.

Also, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists has the Doomsday Clock currently at 2.5 minutes to Midnight-the closest it has been since the 1950s.

I’m starting to think, in addition to continually praying the Rosary, I should start getting my doomsday prep kit together.

Stop watching Doomsday Preppers!

The message is repentance and prayer. We know there will be Jesus coming back. We know its all going to be chaos before Jesus does return. We know not to be alarmed over wars famine, natural disasters because Jesus tells us this.

Nuclear disaster is either war or the result of natural disaster.

Look after your own soul , be spiritually prepared for the return of Jesus. He might turn up right now!

The Blessed Virgin’s message , in her approved visits is Prayer, penance, change our godless ways.

I used to be a die hard prepper, however, other than being prepared for the effects of a Hurricane Sandy again, I no longer do that. I figure, God takes care of everything and everyone, I put my faith and trust in Him to see me through whatever comes my way.

Thanks for mentioning Akita which I was only vaguely aware of. I noticed the mention of “the sign that our Lord left” in addition to the Rosary as the two things to cling to.
That “sign” is, of course, Jesus’ miraculous image left on His burial linen.
Please allow me to recommend this to you. In my turn, I must learn to pray the Rosary.

I believe this may be the warning you’re thinking about. From Ewtn
October 13, 1973

***“My dear daughter, listen well to what I have to say to you. You will inform your superior.”
After a short silence:
“As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will have never seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests.”
"The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres…churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.
“The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them” …***
Peace, Mark

I don’t really hold to Akita. I find it to be too controverted.

Predicting wars and economic collapses isn’t difficult, being the world has always had these.

It’s better to focus on the Now, than to concern yourself with bridges you may never be asked to cross.

Jim, Our Lady of Akita is not predicting just any old war or depression, she is predicting a world-wide disaster greater than the Flood of Genesis.
Now if this disaster were not also predicted in Holy Scripture, then we might legitimately dismiss it. But it is predicted, over and over again.
Perhaps the most graphic is Jeremiah 25:32-33

**See! The disaster spreads
from nation to nation;
a mighty tempest rises
from the far ends of the world.

Those slaughtered by YHWH that day will be scattered across the world from end to end.
No dirge will be raised for them; no one will gather them or bury them.
They will stay lying on the ground like dung.**

In Genesis we can note the YHWH said that He would never again be the cause of such a world-wide disaster (8:21.) Therefore the coming catastrophe must originate from what man has created.
Scripture says that humanity will definitely be asked to cross that bridge, and Our Lady of Akita said that the only aids to this crossing will be the Sign and the Rosary.
Personally, I feel that this is something that I should pay attention to.

Beware of Old Testament predictions, they’re from dream literature and often have nothing to do with us today, but the world of that time.

Back in 1959, the nuns told us the same prediction from Fatima, as we had to hide under our desk in practice for a nuclear attack from the Soviet Union. They were sure the attack was around the corner.

You can predict that a nuclear attack will happen at some point in the future.

Either the US under Trump or whomever, Putin or Pakistan giving a nuclear bomb to terrorists.

Even Iran, if they get the bomb, could sell one to a terrorist group.

The real fear right now is a small freighter from a nation like Iran, with a short range missile with a nuclear war head, sailing off the East or West Coast of the United States and launching the missile onto one of the major cities, like New York or LA.

That all being said, don’t worry about tomorrow, but concern yourself with today, as your Father in heaven knows every hair on your head, as Jesus said.

Sorry, Jim, but I must beg to differ. This passage from Isaiah is a perfect description of at WW II slave labor camp for Jewish women:

** . . .The Lord will give the daughters of Zion itching heads and uncover their nakedness,
That day the Lord will take away the ankle ornaments, etc. etc.
Instead of a scent, a stink;
instead of a belt, a rope;
instead of a nice hairdo, a shaven scalp;
instead of a pretty dress, a sack,
and brand marks* instead of beauty.**

*Tattooing for identification purposes is considered a form of branding.
Jesus also criticized Jewish Rabbinical leaders for failing to discern the obvious signs of the times, and He said that we would know when He was at the very gates.

The passages of Isaiah 66:15-16, Jeremiah, and many others clearly describe some kind of world-wide catastrophe that has not yet occurred.
If our Creator had intended for us to ignore them, He would not have included them in His Holy Scripture.

This could’ve been the dispora of 70 AD when the Romans destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem and sent Jews into exile across Europe.

Judaism and Christianity don’t follow the warnings of fortune tellers.

Perhaps you could cite some sources that would document that this treatment was inflicted on Jewish women in the first or second centuries.

And may I ask who you are calling a “fortune teller?” The Prophet Isaiah?

Luke 12:25
Which of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 😉

Well spoken, sir. And if our nation would follow this advice, perhaps it would not find itself in the deadly situation that confronts us.

I do not feel that our Creator gifted us with Biblical prophecy just to have us ignore it. Seeking to understand Scripture is not the same as worry.
Worry would be more like when a people think that, because another country has a WMD, they must build the same. That’s worry and also indicates a lack of trust in our Creator.

In the evening you say, “It will be fine, there is a red sky,” and in the morning, “Stormy weather today, the sky is red and overcast.” You know how to read the face of the sky, but you cannot read the signs of the times.
Matt 16:2-4

NO!!!

The same people who tell us that the message of Our Lady of Akita is not a warning of a coming global nuclear war are some of the same ones who also try to say that our Lord’s miraculous image on His burial cloth is a fraud.

How ironic that Our Lady advises us that this, our Lord’s Sign that He left for us, is one of the two things that we must cling to in the coming tribulations.

As far as I’m aware, the Akita apparitions have not been approved by the church as “worthy of belief”, unless something has happened in the last few years to change that ruling.

Having said that, I’m one of those who suspect we’re being set up for one almighty judgement, which may or may not involve nuclear war.

If I had to give an opinion of the most likely place for a “limited” nuclear war, it would be India-Pakistan. They’ve already had 3 wars, and both of them now have over 100 warheads each.

Considering the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Afghanistan and Pakistan, I wonder what the Indian government would do if a truly fundamentalist government took over Pakistan. India has a no first strike policy, but would that still hold if they never knew from one minute to the next what their neighbours might do?

No, the Old Testament and its predictions are still the inspired Word of God and still relevant today, read in the light of the New Testament.

Akita has been approved by the local ordinary of the diocese where the messages were given by Our Lady. It is therefore an officially approved apparition/ phenomenon.

Nevertheless there is no mention of a nuclear war. People are just putting their own spin on things.
