Our Lady of Akita: Nuclear War?

Nevertheless there is no mention of a nuclear war. People are just putting their own spin on things.
The predicted disaster which will be greater than the flood and which will destroy most of humanity cannot be from anything that could be considered as an “act of God.”
That is because of Genesis 8:21:
**“Never again will I curse the earth because of man, because his heart contrives evil from his infancy. Never again will I strike down every living thing as I have done.” **

That leaves only the inventions of mankind as a possible source for this disaster of fire (see Psalm 9:15-16.) The idea of global nuclear war is also consistent with Isaiah 2:19 & 66:15-16, Jeremiah 25:32-33, Luke 12:49 and many other passages.

Strange how this disaster comes at us unstoppable like a runaway freight train, so obvious but humanity remains so oblivious.

You are right, God promised not to kill everyone on earth again like the flood…but that doesnt mean, something that kills a large number of people, even a majority, is not possible.

People jump to the idea of this being a nuclear exchange because that is one of the most terrible things we can think of happening, in reality though, God could use anything, he could send millions of small asteroids colliding with the earth, he could set off huge earthquakes all over the place, heck he could use something none of us even knows about.

** . . .Scripture cannot be rejected. ** John 10:35

Perhaps you are confusing Genesis 8:21 where YHWH said that He would never again “strike down every living thing” with Genesis 9:11-17 where YHWH said that no flood would ever again “destroy all things of flesh.”

Genesis 8:21 is quite clear that no “act of God” will ever again destroy most life on earth. The things that you have listed, asteroids, earthquakes, etc. are all classified as “acts of God,” (just ask your insurance company if you don’t believe me.)
And being such acts, they cannot ever happen to the earth in such a magnitude as to “strike down every living thing” as YHWH promised in 8:21 that He would not allow this.
What is allowed is the act of man through his newly invented weapons of mass destruction to destroy all life on earth.
An act of man is not the same as an act of God, (once again, just ask your local insurance company if you feel that you need clarification on this issue.)

First there is no mention of a nuclear war. That is simply your opinion and not a fact.
Second you are talking about a PRIVATE revelation that the Church tells us we do not have to believe it.
The Church trumps your position.

Revelations does speak of what appears to be a asteroid strike:

The Second Trumpet

8 The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain ablaze with fire was hurled into the sea. g So a third of the sea became blood, h 9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

Has not happened yet

A logical conclusion is not the same as a private revelation. Since the coming world-wide disaster (which is also mentioned in Isaiah and Jeremiah) cannot be an act of God, it must, perforce, be global nuclear war.
Nothing else is available to inflict such a world-wide disaster. (Unless, of course, you choose to disregard Genesis 8:21 which I do not.)

Our Lady of Akita does nothing more, really, than to give us a timeline. The “disaster” is already carved in stone by Scripture.
Other indicators point to the 21st century as well: the visions of Pope St. Pius X and Pope Pius XII, the Prophecy of the Popes, Mother Shipton’s Poem, etc.

I repeat. Stop trying to impose your opinion. There is NO MENTION of a global nuclear war.

See! The disaster spreads
from nation to nation,
a mighty tempest rises
from the far ends of the world.
Those slaughtered by YHWH that day will be scattered across the world from end to end.
No dirge will be raised for them; no one will gather them or bury them; they will stay lying on the ground like dung.
Jeremiah 25:32-33

According to Genesis 8:21 this disaster cannot be anything that would be considered as an act of God.
** . . .and scripture cannot be rejected. **

Global nuclear war is not just “my opinion.” It is a logical conclusion based on Holy Scripture. I see no refutation in anyone’s remarks, only demands that I cease to present this logic.

Logic?? You must be kidding. You are pushing your own baseless speculative opinion.

Indeed.

When I read the warning, it reminded me of an asteroid strike and not a nuclear attack.

This is private revelation not scripture.

Because it is not logic, but speculation on your part, based on your own interpretation of Scripture and private revelation.

We are not obliged to agree with you.

The reasons put forth for rejecting the idea that Our Lady Akita’s message is a warning about a global nuclear war are that that idea is a “private revelation” (which it is not) or that there is no logic involved in that conclusion.

Why Our Lady’e warning cannot be an asteroid strike has already been discussed and no one has refuted it. An asteroid strike would be rightly classified as a natural disaster and, therefore, as an act of God.
Genesis 8:21 clearly states that YHWH will never again send any kind of natural disaster to destroy all life on earth. That promise left the fulfillment of Isaiah 66:15-16 as an impossibility until man’s invention and deployment of thousands of nuclear weapons, and exactly the same is true for the warning of Our Lady.

Discussion is welcomed. But the unsupported assertion that there is no “logic” here really doesn’t hold water any more than the untrue assertion that this conclusion is some kind of “private revelation.”

Weren’t the actual words “fire will fall from the sky”? That could be any number of things from nuclear war to volcanic explosion to asteroid strike to planes dropping bombs to God sending fire down on the earth in some other unexplainable way.

You are correct, except for one thing which is Genesis 8:21 where YHWH clearly states that He will never again curse the earth because of man, because his heart contrives evil from his infancy and that He will never again cause all life on earth to be wiped out as it was in the Deluge.
Now Our Lady warns of a cataclysm even greater than that Deluge. According to 8:21 that disaster cannot be any kind of natural event because those things are acts of God.
The only things left to enable the event are the inventions and acts of man which are not natural events and are not acts of God.

I find myself accused of “interpretation” and “private revelation.” Really? Just how much “interpretation” is required to understand 8:21?
These lines seen simple enough to me.

You just said “simple enough to me”. This is your own understanding of the scripture (taking Genesis at its literal meaning, to you).
This IS your own personal interpretation. Not everyone interprets Genesis literally.

Moreover, I believe Our Lady didn’t say that all life would be wiped out by the disaster; she indicated that some would be wiped out and some survivors would suffer very greatly. The Church has not spoken to this issue at all officially. So there is even more room for a variety of interpretations of Akita.

What can account for such a stubborn refusal to acknowledge the plain meaning of simple words? I have observed on CAF that conservative Catholics are very much in denial of any possibility of global nuclear war.
To them nuclear weapons are beneficial inventions that have prevented another world war, and they are not in any way offensive to our Creator.

So, when a prophecy of “fire from the sky” rears its ugly head, it cannot be a prediction of global nuclear war, and any Scripture supporting that idea must be dismissed.
Therefore we see protestations such as “this is your personal revelation,” “no logic involved here,” and “one cannot take Genesis literally.”
No alternative interpretation of 8:21 is ever offered, mind you, just inane innuendo. That is because 8:21 is so simple and direct as to not require any “interpretation” at all.

"You know how to interpret the face of the earth and the sky. How is it you do not know how to interpret these times?"
