🤷 🤷🤷

Your guess is good…heck…better than mine. This is going well way over my head. 🙂
My guess actually is…They think Mary can intercede for them. Not realising however, that it is Catholic teaching that the prayer goes to Jesus. How do we know no Shiite asked to be converted later, after receiving perhaps some message.🙂

Edit: Sorry I made some changes.

No problem 👍

Hmm… didn’t consider that though. Thanks for the opinion!

Edit - You do get conversions from this if what i understand from reading the things i’ve read online is true.

But you also get well tours of Fatima from Islamic groups that seems just as routine as if they were going to visit Karbala or one of their other holy sites.
You are wise. 😃

they do not see Jesus as God so they do not see Mary as the Mother of God.
But…they do believe that Jesus was taken up to heaven by God. (Mohamed was not) and they do honor Mary more than Fatima, the daughter of the prophet.

I am not sure how they reconcile all of this.

I didn’t know - thanks!
There certainly is a mistake in the linked article: guada lupe is not Arabic: it is Spanish dialect for ford (not river) of the wolf. I hope the rest of the article is more error-free!

I didn’t think it was Arabic either.

What would Muslims reconcile?

If Muslims accept Muhammad so would they deny Jesus but why?

:yup:

Mary, mother of Jesus, the Theotokos, the God-bearer, appeared to Christian children in a town named Fatima.
Muslims accept Mary as the virgin mother of Jesus, the messiah and the prophet that was taken up to heaven by God.
Certainly Jesus is more important than his mother in God’s plan of salvation. It is Jesus who will come down from heaven to judge the living and the dead.

That case of Fatima! I am not sure about that.

Mary is mother of Jesus and that is all.

Jesus was a great prophet but that does not refute that Muhammad was a great prophet too.

Which leads to the original quesiton… Why are they going in the first place?

Remember, they aren’t mass converting to your religion, which would make sense.

They are still keeping their affiliation/identity as being Islamic…yet they go to Fatima.

After all, i’m assuming if we rule out all the ecumenical-syncretist type religions out there (like the Bahai, and the Hindus, etc et cetc), who believe miracles and things of this sort happens in All Religious Faiths all the time…

Or to put this into concrete terms:

1.) I’m sure the followers of Judaism for instance, do not believe anything happened in Fatima. So they won’t go to Fatima. Make sense.

2.) You guys believe in Fatima, it reinforces your faith and your understanding of the world. You go to Fatima. Still makes sense.

3.) Shi’ite Muslims who do not accept your religion, its primary understanding of the faith and message of Jesus of Nazareth…go to Fatima…

Why does this bother you? Aren’t you supposed to be an atheist?

And of course, Mary is not just the mother of Jesus. She was also teaching him when he was a child. Mothers are extremely important (and Im sure any family would know that) and she remained a virgin. 🙂 Humble and God fearing.

Im certainly not speaking for atheism but, there is logic and reason to these kind of questions.

I’d say he asked a very valid question. 🙂
