And “Fatima in Lucia’s Own Words, Volume 1”
Sister Lucia liked volume 1 better than volume 2, but both are recommended.

I must admit that I have not yet read those books, but I started praying the Rosary every day. That was the biggest thing I got out of the talk was how important it is to pray the Rosary.

It is probably best to disregard almost anything else concerning Fatima. Everything important about Fatima is in one of the three above books. If you hear something else in another book not already mentioned in these books it may well have been fabricated.

However, there are doubtless many miracles that have happened to those who have prayed or made pilgrimages in the years following. But as for Our Lady’s authentic messages, stick to those three books.

Sister Angela de Fatima (Mother Superior of Aliança de Santa Maria in Fatima Portugal) was the speaker I heard about two years ago. And she came again to Northern Virginia and spoke at my parish church last Wednesday night.

And aside from that, do not neglect that there is much said about Our Lady on the Vatican web site. For example, on November 10th this year Pope Benedict XVI spoke to the Bishops of Portugal. I am quoting the paragraph of Pope Benedict’s message that most pleased Sister Angela. The biggest thing I got out of hearing Sister Fatima is the encouragement to pray the Rosary every day.

In summary, the message of Fatima is to Pray, to believe and to love. We must love the Immaculate Heart of Mary and desire to bring Mary comfort. Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Reparation is a big word that takes me awhile to consider what it means. It seems easier to me just to remember to love Mary, to want to be near Mary, to want to comfort and help Mary by becoming concerned about the things Mary is concerned about.

I received, to my surprise a FREE and unsolicited copy of
Mark Fellows’s book on Sister Lucia Apostle of Mary’s Immaculate Heart a few weeks ago. No doubt, it was sent by those associated with Father Gruner’s group.

The book contains a lot of useful information
and I don’t think that just because something comes from
“the Grunerites” it is necessarily untrue,
but on the whole, I would not recommend the book.

Fatima is about worship of God the Holy Trinity,
devotion to the Eucharist, THE ROSARY EVERY DAY,
and reparation (not worship, dear Protestants) to Mary’s immaculate heart. This simply means that Mary, as the person
closest to Christ physically and spiritually, is 100% in support of God’s Holy Will and to offend the Father or the Son is also to deeply offend Mary, whose heart is so pure and in union with the “heart” of God. She is our Mother, and our Sins against God hurt her in her heart. Reparation to her is a way of showing love for her and comforting her.

As for whether the whole third secret was realeased in 2000, even Mother Angelica feels that it wasn’t. But really, so what?
If Mary is not pleased, we are not at fault for this decision.
So why read scandal-mongering books?
If WE show love to our Mother Mary, that is enough.
The “chastisements to come” are going to come regardless,
but we can mitigate them somewhat by our prayers and almsgiving somewhat. But never omit to pray the Rosary.
Pray it every day.
And why just devote 15 minutes to Mary on the 1st Saturday of Every Month? Meditate on the mysteries with Mary for 15 additiional minutes every day, not just once a month.

I agree with most of what you say. However, “so what?..” I’m sorry but it is a big deal We are taught in the cathecism of the Catholic Church to believe in the infallibility of the Pope. Does it not seem very wrong that the Pope would ignore the instructions of Our Holy Mother Mary. It certainly seems so to me.

I personally viewed a special presentation on EWTN just shortly before Christmas on the life of Pope John Paul II, and in this documentary, it was specifically shown with the Pope consecrating Russia to Mary. It might be a good idea for you to contact the EWTN Catalogue and order the video. It shouldn’t be too hard to obtain, since it was shown very recently.

I think that you are the one who is making the "value judgment"

I was answering the “so what?” What does “so what” usually mean. To me it means that it does not matter. ** And yes, it does matter.** It matters very much if or not Mary’s instructions were followed.

And yes, I did post this in other threads. Since this forum is supposed to be about Caholic Answers. I was hoping someone was well enough informed to give me the right information. ** Is this supposed to be a bad thing to do? Not in my books!**

Well, several people have given you the answer, but it is not the answer you wanted to hear. You want someone to agree with you because your mind is made up that Mary’s instructions were NOT followed. You then cast aspersions on the Pope, which is not your place to judge him.

I suggested you get the film which actually showed the ceremony of dedication, but you apparently did not like THAT answer, huh? The book was more credible?

With your defensive mode and mindset, I think this thread will die a quick death. Few would enjoy being of assistance when the question is already decided.
