I wanted to buy one for a Mary garden I am planning on doing although I am not sure what a good size is. I was thinking 24" but not sure if that is too small.

‘is this something people still do?’

Any ideas?

any online stores that are good to buy one from?

I have one that is about 21 inches in a big planter on my front stoop I have impatiens (sp?) and other flowers in it. My mother also has one. I see them in gardens but not that often. I got mine at TJ Max it was a nice surprise that they had one. There is EWTN religious catalog has them I think as well as Leaflet Missal at least they have them in their catalog I get in the mail.

My wife and I were just cleaning up the garden last weekend. (we need more flowers heh) She had bought a Marian statue on the EWTN Site

Interestingly, we had left the statues outside over the winter. A few wind storms caused the archway and angel staues to be blown over, amazingly the Vigin Mary Statue never fell. Cool stuff!

yes it is so beautiful, after calling around I found someone who makes them out of cement and his prices are reasonalbe but he is an hour away and I don’t know what they look like and we are on limited budget. May be worth the trip though.

Thank you, I like those on EWTN website and the leafletonline too

I got a statue today 100% concrete and painted about 24" tall I have a few pictures of her. I like her a lot although some of the website provided had great ones too I was happy to find a local who made him himself. he had a taller one with a snake at the base which I didn’t like that part of it, is there a reson for a snake?

Sunflower,

Congrats on your purchase. I love checking out the concrete items they have for the garden. I like the bird baths and benches as well and like you say they are reasonably priced. Your statue of Our Lady is beautiful!! I’ve seen the concrete Mary before but never painted.

I pass a nice one everyday that people who live at a corner have placed overlooking an intersection. The great thing is that one of the roads is “Rosery Rd.” (ok, I realize it’s not spelled the same, but come on! 😃 )

Really nice Sunflower. I especially like the shade of blue. A local artist as well!

The snake may be in reference to one’s thoughts of Genesis 3:15?
15 I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.

ok that makes sense then I was going to cover it up but then thought that wouldn’t be to good of an idea 🙂

I do try to support locally as best I can.

My mother bought me one for Mothers Day and she found it at a garden shop that sells flowers, you might check the florist in your area if they have any. Mine is only 18 inches tall but very pretty, I do see a few around in peoples gardens but not often. I was thrilled to get mine.
