Our Lady of Kibeho

Dear All,

I wonder if anyone watched the EWTN program last night, Nov. 28, on the Feast of Our Lady of Kibeho? This is an approved apparition of Mary which took place in 1981in the small village of Kibeho, in Rwanda. I watched the program and have read the book, Our Lady of Kibeho. For more, see HERE

This is an image of the statue of Our Lady of Kibeho, but one of the visionaries said something like her skin was neither black not white only beautiful! I think the artist may have chosen to depict her with dark skin to identify her with the African girls to whom she appeared. She spoke to them in their own language.

I watch EWTN a lot also…and wow…what a program…I really enjoyed the program…I can vaguely remember what was going on in that part of the world in 1981…a million people slaughtered…I was particularly ‘touched’ by the fact that Imaculee and 14 (I believe that was the count) were hidden in that bath room for 90 days…and she prayed the Holy Rosary and Chaplet almost perpetually…I too have always had a great Marian Devotion and attempt to Pray the Rosary daily … I was fortunate to have gone on pilgrimage to Medjugorgie in 2001…It is my understanding that the Church hasn’t issued any formal proclaimation about the alledged apparations there to date…anyone know any more about this ?..PAX

I watched part of it, as well, but had a problem understanding her english and gave up. Thank goodness Father Pacwa echoed some of her sentences so we could grasp her meaning.

Actually, there were only 8 in that bathroom, and I can’t even fathom how they did this for three months. You no doubt saw the size of it in the clip they showed.

been sent to warn so many times… And few have

There were 7 other women beside Immaculee in that tiny bathroom 4ft by 3ft, I believe she said. The picture of it in the documentary was startling, and as she said they were all so frightened they did not speak to each other for the 91 days. It is amazing they survived. I think her word for it in the documentary was “Agony”. Prayer can enable us to survive many hardships.

Kibeho is an approved apparition but Medjugorje, to my knowledge, is still under investigation by a Commission formed by Pope Benedict XVI after he became Pope. I haven’t heard anything since the Commission began their study.

I’m glad you watched the program, and I hope many all over the world watched it, for the message was not merely for people in that one country in Africa. This terrible genocide could happen anywhere, if people do not listen to God and turn from hatred to His Love. Please let us continue to pray the Rosary as Mary has asked.

I’m sorry you gave up. I read her books: Left to Tell and also Our Lady of Kibeho so maybe her English was easier for me. I was very impressed with her love for Our Mother. Maybe you can check your public library for the book Left to Tell (that’s how I came to read it). I purchased the e-book version of Our Lady of Kibeho and would highly recommend both books.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Mary has been sent to warn us before, and so few have listened! Nevertheless God continues to send her as our Mother who loves us with His Love. I think what impressed me so much in watching the program, was Immaculee’s utter conviction that Mary loves us so much because God loves us so much.

She also said in her book Left to Tell and she repeated it in the documentary that the reason she survived the terrible genocide in Rwanda was so that she could share with others.

Oh my! I just came from Amazon and learned that there are 593 reviews on this book! Awesome! It’s truly wonderful to see that so many are reading it. I did not take time to check whether it is on Kindle, which would be great since I have one.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many review on a book before.

her books about the genocide are on kindle…i have both for mine.
