I was reading about this earlier and it does say the church approved it, but it seems like none of the stuff Mary said ever came to fruition, well, I guess you could say the time we are living in now, could be the time she referred to as when people would only seek to amuse themselves, and only care about carnal pleasures, sinning, etc.

Can anyone name anything that did happen in the later 1800s to confirm this message was true?

Im also curious about the time she warned the pope would see many miracle workers come to him…when did all this happen?

Do not confuse the actual approved apparition and what was not.

The Holy See actually …actually forbade the publication and the discussing etc of the various alleged things concerning La Salette… (various problems with such…especially with what distributed it seems) (and it went beyond placing it on the index)–(and it can be noted that the index still retains its moral force …warning etc of that which can be of danger to faith and morals).

Stick only to the actual Approved Private Revelation - as the Church has cautioned and directed.

👍

La Salette and Fatima are being misused by a certain section of the blogosphere these days. It’s always best to stick strictly to what is Church-approved.

We used to be staffed by La Salette priests.
They often talked about the apparition itself, not messages.

The messages of Our Lady of La Salette need to be heard and heeded. Don’t dismiss them. They are true and necessary warnings for our generation and for the future.

Pax.

That’s an…interesting blog you’ve linked to in your signature.

Nobody is “dismissing” the message of Our Lady of La Salette. But when the first Google hit for “La Salette” is a paranoid blog claiming that Cardinal Siri was the real Pope, then prudence and discernment are required.

The thing about the type of prophecy foretold in an apparition is that if people respond, the result changes.

So say A teacher tells a student that he will flunk if he doesn’t start to study; he’s been goofing off too much and it’s messing up his grades.

If he heeds the warning and buckles down, then the teacher’s prophecies “won’t come true…”

True.
The fact that the Church has identified an “approved private revelation” does not mean the Church has “approved” everything attributed or somehow claimed to be connected to that situation. For instance, when the Church approved Fatima in 1930, that only means it reviewed information disclosed to the Magisterium prior to that time, it does not include (nor negate) disclosures made public later.

No private revelation adds to the Deposit of Faith. The only value is that it may encourage some people to heed, and pay closer attention to living out the Truth found in public revelation. And they usually do that. When private revelations start to take on a life of their own, a momentum or magisterium unto themselves, they become a problem.

It helps knowing what Mary actually said at La Salette.
For this see lasalette-rainham.co.uk/page5.html
She said the people of that area faced disaster if they did not repent. However, because of the apparitions of Mary there was a change in the people of that area of France.
