Br. David,

For those of us who are enrolled in the Brown Scapular, but aren’t near a Carmelite church, can you recommend any reading, prayers or devotion for today? Thanks.

Happy Feast Day!
Procession ,with Statue of St. Simon Stock receiving the Rosary from Our Lady.

Today’s Rosary-Joyful Mysteries

With loving provident care, O Mother Most Amiable, you covered us with your Scapular as a shield of defense against the Evil One.
Through your assistance, may we bravely struggle against the powers of evil, always open to your Son Jesus Christ.

Happy feast day to all of you as well!

I was able to happily celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel by being invested with the Brown Scapular today! 🙂

Queen and Beauty of Mt. Carmel, pray for us! Mystical flower, forever in bloom, radiant splendor of Heaven, assist us in our necessities, and show thou art our mother!

Hi everyone,

What is the significance of this feast day and is it linked to the brown scapular?

Thanks.

Happy Feast Day!
I extend the same wishes to you! We celebrated the solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel at Annunciation Hermitage in Austin, MN. A very nice day with conferences by Br. Robert (vocations director of St Elias Province) and mass celebrated by + Rev. John Quinn, Bp. of Winona. Truly a joy and a blessing.

Fr. Anthony gave a great homily yesterday about this on EWTN. As soon as it posts on YouTube, I’ll post it here.

“Come, worship the Lord, for we are his people, the flock a shepherds, alleluia.”

Today’s Rosary: Glorious Mysteries

All things have an end, and two things, life and death, are side by side set before us, and each man will go to his own place. Just as there are two coinages, one of God and the other of the world, each with its own image, so unbelievers bear the image of this world, and those who have faith with love bear the image of God the Father through Jesus Christ. Unless we are ready through his power to die in the likeness of his passion, his life is not in us.

From the beginning of a letter to the Magnesians by Saint Ignatius of Antioch, bishop and martyr

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I am on vacation visiting family and friends as well as taking an on-line summer course.

This book is on my reading list so I have yet to read it but you might like to try Carmel and Mary: Theology and History of a Devotion which can be found at this website, Carmelite Institute: Publications.
