Our Lady of Success

I’ve heard about an apparition in the 1600’s called Our Lady of Success. Does anyone know if this is an actual apparition approved by the Church? I’m a little skeptical about it. Anyone know?

Our Lady of Good success was indeed approved a long time ago by the Bishop in Quito see below;

My sister had a big devotion to this. She did frequent many sites that I would say were “traditionalist”. They seem to be the ones pushing this rather heavily. But I have not found anything that says this is false or specifically un-approved.

The prayers are beautiful. My sister had us order bought holy cards for her funeral for everyone that might attend. Sadly, another sister was in the same town, and decided not to honor her wishes. Said it was too much trouble. I suppose she threw them out.

I know this devotion is very popular in Ecuador. I don’t think it was ever officially approved by the Vatican. Historically, it occurred either right at the beginning of, or before, an official approval process was established so it is more in the category of “historic feasts” which also includes pretty much every apparition before 1600s.

There is someone on this forum who references Our Lady of Good Success in his signature line. Maybe he can add more.

She did. There was another apparition later in Ecuador which is the one I usually hear about due to Ecuadorians living near one of my parish churches, who bring in the prayer cards and such to leave in the nave.

Doesn’t canonical coronation refer to a pious crowning of the statue involved here (said to be based on the apparition) rather than an approval of the apparition itself?

I’m not one to split hairs though and it seems pretty clear from the amount of prayer cards for this I’ve seen being set out in regular parish non-FSSP churches that the Pope does not have any issues with the devotion.
