Has anyone ever taken a really good look and compared the photo of St. Bernadette alive with the ones of her incorrupt body? To me it doesn’t even look like the same person; it’s as if she turned into a little Mary. The photo I’ve seen on the internet of her incorrupt face and hands up close is so beautiful, just like i would have imagined Mary. So beautiful…

The majority of the photos of Saint Bernadette that are available were taken when she was very young. Most of them while she was still a teenager. Remember she was only 14 or so when she saw the apparitions and entered the Convent when she was 21 or 22. There are very, very few pictures of her when she was living in religious life.

Not at all unusual that she would look somewhat different when she passed at 35…

What they did was cover her face with wax not use a mask The wax covers the face exactly and is how she looks. When she was disinterred the first time the Sisters washed and clothed her body This resulted in fungus growth on the skin It was also said that there was some sagging of the skin around the eyes… It was common to use wax in those days
