luvmykids,

The bottom line is this: Do you believe that non-Catholics are entitled to live their lives in a manner inconcsistent with the teachings of the Cathoilic Church?

Yes or No

Of course I do. That is their choice, but for some things, like the killing of innocent human beings, murder, stealing, etc… are things that are or (in the case of killing innocent human beings) should be illegal, because the government has a responsibility to protect the rights of all people.

Okay. Which things?

Obviously, you think abortion is out. What about contraception? Are BCP out because they can (in certian rare circumstances) prevent implantation of an embyo? How about condoms? Diaphrams?

What about remarriage after divorce?

How about same sex between people of the same gender? (I remember from another thread that you’re stridently against SSM, so I’m guessing thats out)

Blasphemy? Should it be against the law to say rude things about God (or his Mom?)

What about heresy? Should we punish people for saying false things like Once Saved Always Saved?

Who decides which things we’re going to be putting people in prision for?

And are you prepared to be dictated to by other religions about their things?

Muslims have certain beliefs aboout the status of women in society. If the demographics of the US change are you prepared to abide by those restrictions?

Toni,

[post=1282803]Great answer[/post]!

There are two ways to change society, top-down, that is to try to make society better by the use of power (political or otherwise).

The other way is bottom-up. We each are to do are part in this by striving to live our lives in a God pleasing fashion. When enough people do this, society will change on its own.

Ok, go at it! :bounce:
Anyone who thinks it is a good idea to try to change society through government needs only to look at history to see how misguided this is.

Just one example: Americian public schools were origionally established by evangelical protestants so they could try to educate the Catholic and German Lutheran children in the ways of evangelical protestanism.

Everyone might be tempted to think “well that was them. I would do it right.” That is just arrogance.
