Our new priest made me laugh today

At the Cathedral, where I frequently attend Saturday evening Mass, we have a new associate pastor. Today, he was hearing confessions before the 5:00 Mass. Usually, the priest who will be celebrating the 5:00 has a sign on the door stating that the priest must leave at 4:40 to prepare for Mass. Neither confessor had that sign today, so I figured we must be having another priest for Mass.

At 4:57, the sacristan pulled the new priest out of the tiny, traditional confessional, FULLY VESTED for Mass! It was pretty funny! It was also touching that he wanted to stay in there as long as possible to take care of the people.

That’s a great story! I pray daily for more priests with that kind of love for their flock–and that kind of energy!!
