The body had on Earth, before resurrection, is temporary, but the soul continues without the body and is reunited with the resurrected body at the Second Coming. Real life is the living soul in grace rather than the soul dead in sin. Therefore real life is now through adoption. Catechism
1996 Our justification comes from the grace of God. Grace is favor , the free and undeserved help that God gives us to respond to his call to become children of God, adoptive sons, partakers of the divine nature and of eternal life. 46
