I won’t be able to go to confession at my Diocese tomorrow, but I wont be staying in the other Diocese overnight. Can I still go to confession in the other Diocese? Thanks!

Hello,

Yes. There are no territorial boundaries regarding where a person may go to Confession.

Dan

You can go to confession to anyone who has a valid Lee ordained Catholic priests. In emergencies you may even go to Orthodox priests because they have valid Apostolic succession. I live on a skateboarder that fairly near one sometimes like a question in another state there’s no rules against going to confession in a different diocese sometimes I go to a different sui iuris, that is a self-governing Eastern Catholic Church to go to confession. I want some priests at Chuck E cheese he was with the family there I didn’t ask him to hear my confession but he could have heard it there if he wanted to. I did get him to bless a rosary of mine there though so that was cool. Anyway the only problem I would have going to confession out of a local jurisdiction was if I went somewhere where very few people smoking wish I could probably handle myself pretty well in Italian French Portuguese but not so well in languages like polish which I don’t know any of well I know like 3 words of polish. This will probably be the only time I had a problem but if you go to a lot of the larger cities events International like I know Paris has a place where you can go to an English Mass so I imagine that the conessions would be in English same with Brussels I know in Brussels in a Dutchman eat supper with me there is a church that offers Mass and confession in English. But with regards to go to confession outside your territorial jurisdiction I don’t think it matters. Imagine some people that live on the Canadian US border go outside their countries to go to confession quite often because they’re both primarily English speaking countries ( he English speakers do not like a hundred percent of either population in Canada has a significantly large French speaking population). Dude I just think it matters that you go. Anyway if there are any grammatical or spelling mistakes in this please understand that voice to text is a pain

You can go to confession anywhere in the world with a Catholic priest in good standing with the Church.

I travel frequently, and have been to confession all over the place. I find it very comforting that when I’m on the road I can always find a place to receive the sacrament.

I agree. I’ve been to confession in 3 other states, and a number of different parishes. I now have two regular confessors at my nearby parish, but I’m sometimes in need while on the road. Sometimes I will go, not because I have ‘urgent’ sins to confess, but because it’s being offered before Mass. I love to attend Mass in the cleanest ‘state’ possible.
