O great St. Joseph, you were completely obedient to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Obtain for Reginator the grace to know the state of life that God in His providence has chosen for him. Since his happiness on earth, and perhaps even his final happiness in Heaven, depends on this choice, let him not be deceived in making it. Obtain for him the light to know God’s Will, to carry it out faithfully, and to choose the vocation which will lead him to a happy eternity. Amen.

I’ve had to tell my children, aged 23 & 25, that we probably will not exchange presents this Christmas. They are OK with that, saying just visiting will be great.
But it hurts …

I’m starting to loose hope. I am realizing that I am virtually unemployable … living in a small town with very few places to even apply to, no skills that anyone needs anymore, nothing to show at the age of 56 (as of Jan. 6).

I’m getting stupider every day: I am starting to skip my prayers even. If all goes well I’ll be going to confession (and Adoration followed by Mass) tomorrow (Friday) night.

My Lord and my God, please hear the prayers of all your children praying for our brother, Your son. Grant him, dear Lord, what You know is the perfect job and work for him – and yes, close to the house. Give him every joy and blessing. Uplift him and his family so that they may together bring you praise and worship. Bless them and keep them. Thank You, Jesus! Praise You Lord! Amen

If there are any supermarkets or walmarts around, they may be able to hire you…I know how this is. My town is 25,000 people, but 21,000 of them are college students, and it is who you know around here.

St. Joseph, please pray for this man. Pray he find a job. Pray that God give him direction. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

I live in a small town with few opportunities. I get almost everywhere on foot or by bicycle. (The Better Half claims our only car as her own. She paid for it all by herself and has taken over service station maintenance and insists on being the only one to put gas into it.)

My 30+ year old university degree is not of any real use. My experience is in a couple of particular fields and is largely outdated.

Tonight I picked up an application form for a coffee and doughnut job. At 55 I find that I am competing with high school kids for work.

People try to help by asking ‘what are you passionate about?’. I haven’t an answer for that … at least not one that will bring in any income.

I have not been faithful in praying about this, so tonight I shall begin:
