Prayer to St. Joseph for the Unemployed

O Saint Joseph, we pray to you for those who are out of work, for those who want to earn their living or support their families.

You who are the patron of workers; grant that unemployment may vanish from our ranks; that all those who are ready to work may put their strength and abilities in serving their fellowmen and earn a just salary.

You are the patron of families; do not let those who have children to support and raise lack the necessary means. Have pity on our brothers and sisters held down in unemployment and poverty because of sickness or social disorders. Help our political leaders and captains of industry find new and just solutions. May each and every one have the joy of contributing, according to his abilities, to the common prosperity by an honorable livelihood. Grant that we may all share together in the abundant goods God has given us and that we may help underprivileged countries. Amen.

Update:

'Tis the season to hire seasonal employees.

I received two telephone calls, one on Monday (the 10th) and one today (the 12th) for job interviews.

This is something new for me. I’ve read about interviews and I’ve taken courses about finding jobs wherein we did practice interviews, but in all my life I’ve never had a “real” interview. All jobs began with a chat followed by me starting work. (Well there was one house cleaning job and the ‘interview’ was held in a coffee shop – very informal. I didn’t get that position due to my lack of transportation.)
On this Saturday Nov. 15 @ 10am I have an interview with two interviewers. :eek: I’m to help sell booze (at the Liquor Licensing Board of Ontario - the LCBO) over Christmas time … and I hardly drink at all! But I can certainly stock shelves (and learn how best to help).

Today Walmart called and I had an interview with two managers over the phone. But there’s more to come. They’ll get back to me so I can come in for a ‘group interview’ with five to six other people and about five managers. “Group interview”. That’s a new one for me!
I still don’t know if this Walmart job is only seasonal or whether it may go on after Christmas.

Thanks again for all your prayerful support.

They probably don’t, either. They’ll see how everyone does over Christmas, and at the end of the contract, they’ll let go the ones they don’t need any more, and keep the ones they think they need.

My advice (in case you want it): If you get the Christmas position, do everything it takes to become the one they think they need. 😉

I feel the interview went well, but I’m just one of many …
**This will be a cashier position, although everyone helps with set-up and clean up from time to time.

I received a call from Walmart today asking if I’m still interested in working for them.🙂

I’m to see a manager about my job offer on Tuesday November 25th. They are only hiring for part-time positions right now, but at least it’s finally a paying job!!!

I can understand your worry and will pray for you. I have a brother the same age and is in the same situation. He has recently reached out to Goodwill Workforce which is an excellent resource for those in your age bracket looking for work. It is a free service with workshops, and contacts with employers who come in to interview candidates at the Goodwill locations. Look for one in your area- it will surprise you. Keep the Faith.👍

Only God knows where this might lead … I see this as another stepping stone on the way to heaven.

As a part-time employee and at a low wage my weekly gross pay is almost as much as I used to earn per day.
But God knows how much money I need. This position certainly allows plenty of time for other paid and volunteer work as I’ll be working overnights (stocking the shelves) for merely 12 hours a week.
– It’s a start!

Praise be to God! He always knows what’s going on even when I don’t have a clue.
