Outdoor Stations of the Cross

Last night, my parish prayed the Stations of the Cross outside in the surrounding neighborhood. Parishoners living nearby put a wooden cross in front of their house, with a purple drape. The priest and the deacon led the parish as we processed around the neighborhood, singing and praying the stations. The police had to block off the streets so we could process. It was an amazing experience. I’m very happy.
 
Sounds wonderful! Did many take advantage of this devotion? Did you ‘pick up’ people as you went along?

That is wonderful. Although I did not take part this year, my parish is the location for the spanish ministry of the Deanary. Every year they do the live Via Crusis reenactin each station through the surrouding two blocks start in from of the church and make a big 2 block curcle ending back at the chruch every moving.

It’s hard to tell if anyone else joined in, because there were hundreds of people participating! 🙂
 
In Groom, Texas- a town on I-40 about 45 minutes from where I live is a huge cross that was erected 10 or 15 years ago. Around it are life-sized statues of the Stations of the Cross, the Crucifixion, the Tomb of Christ, the Last Supper, and even a full sized replica of the Shroud of Turin. All pretty amazing.
