Overcoming the language of the abortion supporters

The pro-abortion movement is clever in its use of language. Activists do everything they can to eliminate the word “abortion” from the discussion. So they name themselves “pro-choice” – not pro-abortion. Pro-lifers are, of course, “anti-choice.” Abortion advocates always talk about a woman’s right to chose, a woman’s right to control her body, a woman’s right to make her own health decisions. They talk about termination of a pregnancy.
When pressed, they say of course they’re not FOR abortion. (How dare you suggest that?) When linguistic camouflage fails, they talk about rape, incest, life of the mother, health of the fetus, or back-alley abortions.
These advocates never name what’s really going on – a woman hiring a butcher to dismember her living baby, who has fingers, toes, eyes, brain, and a beating heart. They never acknowledge the emotional, physical, and spiritual scarring a woman experiences after the “procedure.”
When discussing pro-life issues, how can one get past these obstacles to genuinely touch the hearts of pro-abortion friends and family? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Most people will roll their eyes at my answer, but I must say it! Prayer and offering up your communions for their conversion is the best thing you can do to touch the hearts of these poor souls. Most of the Pro-Abortion people are beyond the point of changing their stance with good old fashioned debate. What they need is the hardened heart bunker busting power of the Holy Spirit to help them cooperate with actual grace, and to be silent and listen to the voice of God in their hearts.

Prayer for the Conversion of Sinners:

Lord Jesus Christ, most merciful Saviour of the world, we humbly beseech You, by Your most Sacred Heart, that all the sheep who stray out of Your fold may in one days be converted to You, the Shepherd and Bishop of their souls, who lives and reigns with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end.

Prayer to Saint Joseph to Obtain a Conversion:

O Glorious Patriarch St. Joseph, who merited to be called “just” by the Holy Ghost, I urgently recommend to thee the soul of him/her, which Jesus redeemed at the price of His Precious Blood. They entertain tinfoil-hat-esque scenarios that revolve about men having some sort of secret conspiracy to make women suffer and keep them away from good jobs or anything else they desire. I once engaged with one on an internet forum and she told me - I kid you not - that I cannot have a valid opinion on abortions because I don’t have a vagina. You can’t win but you can at best expose them for the frauds they are, and explain to normal women that by following these cranks they are letting themselves be led by a lunatic fringe.

This is bound to shake things up a bit, but I think those women are just plain anti-patriarchy. There’s a lot that was thrown away when women came out from under coverture. Sure, they wanted the right to own property, and to vote, those kinds of things, but they lost the protective covering of their husbands and fathers.

The old time ways were that way for a reason, and not simply to keep women (supposedly) as second class citizens. Thousands of years of history prove the wisdom of that system, and it’s been almost completely undone in these last 100 years.

Yeah … I don’t think I’d like to roll back the clock to the times when women were powerless.

And Blessed John Paul II supports that idea in his letter to women.

I’m not rolling my eyes at all. We must touch hearts, which have been hardened by our culture of death. And prayer is a wonderful way to do that.

I abhor the fight that progressiveness and enlightenment has brought between men and women, rich and poor, and neighbor against neighbor. This world is sick, and I don’t buy into the popular notion that women have ever been powerless. Men and women are different, and meant for different purposes. This blurring the lines between men and women is what causes this nutty language from pro-choice people that I originally commented on.

I sometimes think about this, and have come to consider that change is a two-pronged fork.

A lot of change is initiated by demonic forces. So new inventions such as the Internet may flood prople with incoherent philosophies, confusing them and destroying their faith. Or even the Reformation was in its onset a demonic thing, attacking and underming the authority of the church. Ditto the Enlightenment. But over time angelic forces hi-jack these vehicles. Thus protestants today do as much good work as the Catholic Church and are effectively our brothers and sisters in prayer. It was morally wrong to take the lands of the First Nations, but the people of the present day America are - by and large - a good people. The Internet can also spread the word of God and lead to conversions. This is the essence of Comservatism. As Conservatives we are wary of change, but everything we have is the fruit of change if you trace it back far enough, and that is no reason to reject it or freeze our development.

Thus I believe it was wrong to foist modernism and Western morals on indigenous peoples. But now that has happened and cannot be undone, there are nevertheless some fruits to that which we should welcome.

I’m not sure about “the rule of Lucifer” but what you said is more true than not. People will deny that the MSM is biased, and that the MSM is just reporting news, or say that the truth has a liberal bent, but it’s far more chilling when people actually think such industries (entertainment, news) are their work horse to spread their ideology - and a dangerous and shallow one at that. Some people want to redefine the world through MSM and entertainment.

I think that every group uses spin and propaganda techniques in today’s media. The pro life movement is not exempt. Personally, I am opposed to abortion, except under very narrow circumstances. But I also know that many among the pro choice movement are as passionate in their beliefs as those who are passionate on the pro life side.

As for truth, “pro choice” is an accurate term. The pro life argument is that the choice is to commit murder, which is one that society should not grant as a right.

I don’t have any problem with the term.anti abortion either. I am anti abortion. However I want to clarify the being pro life is not only about being against abortion, is a broader terms. Pro life means being against euthanasia, against the use of contraception and to be respectful of all life in the planet and believe that all life is valuable. If someone is against abortion but favors euthanasia, that person is anti abortion but not prolife. In fact, I do know tons of people who are only anti abortion but not pro life.
