Is there anyone here that’s insecure about something that cannot be changed, and if so, how do you overcome it?

Just out of plain curiosity. I know whenever I pray about ______, God likes to make that worse. His sense of humor, I guess

sometimes one can pray till he or she is blue in the face on a topic, and we don’t get the relief we need; an it may come down to that it cant or wont be changed and then answer is not trying to overcome it but to be able to live with it and not let it dominate ones life.

Hi Lea, I think a lot about the Scripture which says that God’s power is perfected in weakness. I’ve learned over the years that I need my inadequacies and struggles. If I didn’t have them, I would be arrogant and more miserable. I need my defects in order to realize that what matters is Jesus Christ’s Infinite Mercy. Total consecration to Jesus through Mary helped me a lot. I know that belonging totally to Jesus through Mary is worth more than anything else.

A prayer isn’t a magical incantation. True, if you had the faith of a mustard seed you could command a tree to uproot and plant itself in the sea. That’s not the reality for most of us. Prayer can, however, lead us to solutions. The hard part is recognizing the solutions when they present themselves.

I think sometimes when we focus on the ONE thing, one thing, one thing, one thing, it stands out even more so, and we aggravate it all on our own.
People make fun of me for this, but I make such an effort to not think about that which is a problem at any given moment. I do pray for a good resolution, and then I let God do his thing. Almost always I am surprised at how well He solved it, often in ways I would never have thought of.

It’s easier said than done dear one.
But try it for a few days.
Put yourself in a place of peace, and see if the issue doesn’t’ become smaller, less important, or actually vanishes after prayer.

It sounds weird but I feel like certain things are the reason why I sin more and is the reason for my general unhappiness ever since I was a child. Prayer intensifies it for some reason

Just be still. Be quiet, maybe visit Jesus in Adoration…take time away from all the is annoying or agitates you for a bit each day.
Time for yourself and God, to be alone together.

God likes to make that worse. His sense of humor, I guess
God doesn’t “like” to make things worse. He may not intervene in the way we request Him to do so but to say that He “likes” difficult situations is a misstating the issue. With His grace He can help us grow stronger and closer to Him through all problems in life.

To say that God has a “sense of humor” to anthropomorphize God, to create a false image of God and make Him into our own (human) image.

Jesus is God and was also human. I’m sure he had a sense of humor as well as other human qualities. If God seems to be playing a joke or a trick on you though, it’s not because he is having fun at your expense. He is trying to teach you something.

Also, I tend to think stepping up your prayer life gets the devil’s attention too and he will throw things at you trying to knock you off the track.

I’m sure God has a sense of humor, albeit not like our broken one, lol.

Probably the last part. I was a lot happier when I was ignorant about the faith and did whatever I want. But I don’t know if it’s fair to blame the devil instead of my flaws as a person

Of course I don’t know you or what your insecurities center around, Lea. But what you say seems similar to things in my own life. Jesus told saint Faustina (in her diary number 1146 I think) that Jesus cannot punish even the greatest sinners if they appeal to His Compassion. That helps me a lot. He just wants us to trust in His Goodness. As a friend always tells me, the Devil always tries to get us to focus on ourselves to the exclusion of focusing on God. Of course we have feelings and we need to actively receive these. But if I don’t keep depending on Mary and looking through her to Jesus for Mercy, I just drown in swamps of anxiety and sadness. I’m praying for you.

Maybe it’s like St Peter when he could walk on water as long as he focused on our Lord–you keep your eyes on Jesus and not the problem?

It’s normal for us to have this kind of insecurities. Just dont overthink about it. Thats what i do 🙂

Dear Lea,
Saint Pio wrote:
“The spirit of God is always a spirit of peace, and in the case of grave sin, it makes us feel a tranquil sorrow, humble, confident, and this is due to His mercy. The spirit of the demon, on the contrary, makes us in our sorrow feel something like anger against ourselves, whereas our first charity must be towards ourselves. So, if certain thoughts agitate you…Such agitation comes from the devil.”

“Walk with simplicity in the way of the Lord and do not torment your spirit.”

Holy God You loved me into existence. Please help me to fully live Your dream of me. Please help me to become truly that person, so that others can experience Your love, goodness, and beauty in me, and can receive the blessings You intend for them through me.

Confidence in God’s merciful love

Our God, we praise and thank You who loves each person into existence. I thank You for loving us, loving me.
Our God, You command that I forgive and rightly cherish myself. Like many people in human history, I often find it difficult to sincerely and consistently love the ‘self’ that I find mirrored in my consciousness. I know that You can bring me to appreciate the miracle and privilege of my existence!

How can I refuse to love what God loves! You treasure me, as You love and treasure each unique, human person that You create. Yet I need much grace to love this betrayer of my true being and purpose, myself! I betray Your loving creation of me by failing to be fully ‘the person I am created to be’ , and by failing in gratitude for the gift of myself.

You love each person so much that it led to the incarnation of Your divine Son, and to His redemption of humankind. Jesus is Your response to my betrayal of my destiny and me. Yet frequently I am unconvinced or indifferent before these astounding gifts of divine love for me and for every person!

Please give me grace to value each person, and my own life, as Your beloved and eternal gift. Inspire me with faith and gratitude for the gift of myself, for the lives of dear ones and of all people. Grant that these human gifts are shaped by Your love to become everlasting gifts to You, and through You, eternal gifts to each other person.

Through Jesus, You taught us that cheerful, loving mutual service of others leads to fulfilment of Your creative will. Therefore, give me grace to faithfully say ‘yes’ to Your loving purpose by active respect and charity to others and me. Delight Yourself in me by forming me into the unselfish, joyful, helpful and prayerful person You dreamed me to be for You and for the sake of others’ souls for time and eternity.
