I just want to ring their necks (yes I am that angry).
Uh oh. It sounds like you need some more church to drive out that hatred. Attend daily Mass, and be sure to go to confession every time before you receive the Eucharist…maybe you are receiving unworthily, and bringing wrath upon yourself.

I would try to find some religious seminars to go to, try something with a Southern Baptist flavour. They really know their stuff.

I found that very judgemental of you

As long as you have faith in Christ and Love in your heart, it is OK to relax.

Don’t listen to some these responses. Some people here are plain crazy.

maybe I didn’t express myself properly. The point I am trying to make is I am so fed up with these people only wanting to go to Catholic events, I just want to ring their necks (yes I am that angry). It almost makes me not want to be near them anymore
Could it be a matter of perception? As a group someone within the group is often promoting these activities so it seems like that’s all they do? I have a lot of these types in my friend group, but they understand we all have different financial situations, time constraints and spiritual needs. Maybe invite someone over for a bbq or out for a drink? Also try to be that person to new members, the welcoming person who is happy to just hang out.

Every now and then I see the vibe you are describing. I saw someone asking for recommendations for a Catholic dentist and thought that seemed unnecessary and oddly specific. You gonna ask your dentist if he is a state of grace before he works on your teeth or something? Afraid he is going to put you on the pill for your irregular…teeth?

Some of us are called to evangelize Catholics, some to evangelize non-catholics and some…who knows. Your group needs both types, the conference attendees and the regular joes. Bonus if you have people who are both.

You can OD on doing nothing but Catholic stuff. I know a Benedictine monk who loves reading thrillers (Tom Clancy, Brad Thor, Vince Flynn) and I know a priest who is an avid hunter. I love to hike and I love good action movies. Nothing wrong about that. But I do pray every day.

I love being Catholic and I want to grow closer to God everyday. It is hard when one lives in a secualr society as I am sure most people have experienced. But it doesn’t change the fact there are times when I would like to do things that aren’t faith centered. LIke shopping, going for a walk, telling clean jokes or going to a famly movie.
What wrong with that?
Overdose of Catholicism:
I am finding that some people I meet at Catholic events are only interested in doing Catholic activities. Like going to every seminar and conference within a 200 mile radius. Personally I am getting bored with it.

Is it really wrong to sometimes just want to relax and have innocent fun without Catholisism being at the forefront of my mind. I find the only people I can do that with are secular and that gets tricky because sinful behaviours can easily creep in
It’s not bad to put your faith first. Then let things flow from that. I go to daily mass and say the rosary daily…Because That’s important to me.

I really identify with the OP. Not so much being Catholic itself, but interacting with Catholics who must make everything about the Church 24/7 can be exhausting.

I can’t see how shopping , going for a walk , joking , going to a family movie are not faith centred .

One can be too heavenly to be of no earthly use .

Having fun with your family gives glory to God .

That happens to be my interest but I thought most catholics were like yourself and preferred just going to Mass and having a normal life. You sound very normal to me. I think you are on the right track. find like-minded people/catholics or don’t even stick with catholics.
