WWJD??? I’ll guarantee you anything that if I were to ask Jesus these, he would at least respond in a Christ-like manner!
That is funny.

I’m a little embarrassed for them.
No need to be.

Oh, now they’ll have to go to Confession, ah, too bad 😦
Actually M31 they don’t have to go to confession.
We are asked to be charitable to those around us. For those who due acts of violence, hatered, verbal, emotional or physical it is not asked of us to be kind and compassionate. (Although some people do as they understand the deep pain inwhich they act out from.) We would pray for them in hope that they see their ways and turn from it or be healed from whetever got them to this point in their life. Does this make sense?.

I don’t see any starving babies. Where do you live?
The Somali famine in the recent news has generated a lot of wharrgarbl about how dare people try to live normal lives in the midst of war, famine, etc, and how irresponsible they are to have families when they obviously don’t live in a stable enough society to support them. I’m guessing this question was most likely inspired by that.

quick note we are not overpopulated, I call it more of we don’t have the food where It needs to be

for example Lots of Americans are fat because they have way to much food and eat way to much. Americans lets face it have a lot of food. But in many parts of africa its difficult to have food, not because there isn’t enough in the world but because its in the wrong place.

to fix the hunger problem we have in the world don’t kill off people or try and slow population growth, let the population grow as it will, and focus on fixing the food problems in the world.

First, the earth can support a lot more than 7 billion people. Yes, it can. It really can. We could ‘fit’ all those current 7 billion people quite comfortably (for the majority of them, a lot more comfortably than in their current living conditions) into an area not much larger than the state of Texas.
For some reason I don’t find that statistic very comforting.

Logistics is the great problem these days… a small minority of the world has too much, and the vast majority doesn’t have enough of what they need.

The “Overpopulation Crisis” is a myth. You can take the entire population of the world and given the population density of Manhattan you could put them all in the state of Texas with plenty of room to spare.

The problem is not numbers of people and there is plenty of food, the problems are the problems people create, “War, crime, sin, etc…”

Hey M31,

Interesting question. I think the other posters have raised valid concerns about the overpopulation myth, so I won’t spend any time on that.

There’s another thing to consider - God does not create humans entirely independently. He cooperates with us to create. Therefore, we actually have a say in the rate at which we give birth. Technically speaking, we could all decide to cease having children.

So even if there was a huge overpopulation problem and the whole world were suffering tremendously from it, it would be incorrect to place the blame on God, as we are the ones having the children!

It’s an interesting question, but it ultimately falls under the general “problem of evil” category, which has the same standard response - God doesn’t create evil, we do.

Hope that helps!

“Human capital is the mind”

Some time ago, people thought they were going to face a crisis because the mammoth was slowly growing extinct. Then then someone invented agriculture.

Some time ago, people thought they were going to face a crisis because they could not grow crops fast enough. Then someone invented fertilizer.

Some time ago, people thought they were going to face a crisis because they were running out of space in the cities. Then someone invented the skyscraper.

Some time ago, people thought they were going to run out of water. Then someone invented the desalinization plant.
You implicitly highlight the problems with ever-increasing population with the above. More and more energy is needed to support population at its every-increasing levels.

You come into this forum, and begin first off by throwing out a largely debunked myth to insult God. Launching into a sarcastic attack rather than an honest inquiry (which, I might point out, is against forum rules).

You then imply that the religious aren’t concerned about “thinking scientifically” and that we’re completely missing the obvious.

You then ignore all the valid and charitable responses in favor of picking out just one or two posts which were disagreeable to you.

It’s becoming rapidly apparent that you’re not here to discuss anything regarding your original subject matter, but simply to troll the forum with “gotcha” moments. I’m messaging a moderator now to review your posting history and repeated violations of forum rules to submit their consideration for warning you (or banning you) from this forum.

**As to your point of what would Jesus do: **
  1. Jesus ran people out of the temple for selling things on its steps by charging them down with a staff and destroying their displays they had set up.
  2. Jesus looked a man in the eyes and said “it would be better for you if you had never been born”
Let’s give up trying to teach us Christians what Christ would do… Christ wouldn’t allow forum trolls to bully His website and neither should we.

As to overpopulation: the simple amount of sunlight hitting the earth in a given timeframe is an indicator of the amount of energy available to the earth in renewable form. If we could harvest 90% of this energy (in terms of food and electric regeneration capability) the earth could easily support 40 billion people. There is no “overpopulation” crisis right now except what man has created for himself.
