Our parish has a regularly scheduled Wed evening Mass, in addition to the 8:15am daily Masses Mon-Sat.

I was able to make it to Mass this morning. I got there a little before as the Rosary is prayed. That was so wonderful to be a part of. I was still lost for a good part of Mass. I am looking forward to being a parish and staying there and learning how everything is done there. I did find a book at Amazon about that is a how to type of book regarding Mass. Now I have to talk my husband into ordering it, easier said than done LOL I told him I was going to Mass this morning and he said Catholics go on Sunday and not often, I am glad I can show him different.

You can look for an inexpensive missal. There should be some available for around $5 or so. My wife and I have one for the Extraordinary Form of the Mass (Latin Mass) which we got for about that much.

Awesome!

It was suggested to me to ask the priest at the parish I am going to right if there was a missalette I could have so I could hopefully get the order of the Mass figured out more. He was so kind. Instead of a missalette, he gave me one of the missals from the pews. He told me to keep it. I was very touch by his generosity. Just had to share LOL

Oh my gosh, that is so awesome!

Had therapy today. My therapist grew up Catholic and now is protestant. She said what is going on with me is really bringing up good things about the Catholic church and she might go attend Mass this weekend. 👍👍

I am not dealing with many people at my church thinking that each of them did something wrong to make me make this huge change, that it is a huge deal and someone must have done something to make me mad.

Why doesn’t anyone hear me when I say that God lead me to do this, that I feel so much closer to Jesus now, that worshiping Him has taken on a whole new meaning? They make it out to be something horrible and something that has no explanation. Why can’t that see that I am truly happy? I am at the point now where I don’t want to explain myself to anyone. I don’t want to have to try to show them what this has done for me. I am pretty sad about this right now. I see why this came at a time when we are moving. I think distance from everyone that is being so negative is a good thing.

But it still does hurt my heart that those I love and who I thought loved me are starting to get ugly about the whole thing.

Satan, in convincing the protestant fathers of their errors, set it up so that these people would be come fully self convinced against all reason that they (each) alone know the full true doctrine of Jesus Christ. More over, to fully cement the schism and heresy he convinced them that the Catholic Church was really pegan, and if it knew Jesus at all it also was guilty of idle worship.

This is the mode of the evil one, to call good evil and evil good. It really isn’t the fault of the protestant believer today. They are just going with the traditions they have been taught. Most are exactly what they accuse catholics of, they are going with what they have known since childhood, and haven’t really done near as much investigation as they think they have as to what the true nature of the Christian faith is. If they had, they would have faced the Christian fathers, and they would have had to answer some very tough questions.

I have seen a video clip, of an evangelical radio show discussing the issue of “bible believing Christians” falling away and going to the Catholic church (oh, the irony). In this show they were very big on the point that they had the bible, but Catholics always appealed to “history”. That’s just it, that’s what they refuse to get. We appeal to scripture, yes (yes we have the bible darnet), but yes we also appeal to history and this is a legitimate appeal.

Christianity is a religion that exists not just in a bible, but it is a lived experience. If the evangelical faith tradition were true, one should find it not just in the bible, but in the writings of the fathers. But will you? :hmmm:

My therapist and I talked about this a lot today. I have been seeing her once a week for four years, it is like going in and sitting down with the one friend I can anything and everything to.

The tradition of the Church puts in a state of awe. I am discovering more and more how important it is. I do feel that along with scripture, tradition makes us even closer to the Lord.

I finding it so refreshing that every little thing in Mass, has a reason and history.

I was telling her that when I go to pray, and I do the sign of the cross and kneel, I am instantly focused on the Lord. It puts me in the mindset that I need to be in to go to Him. A tradition that seems so little, really means so much.

I am really blessed by all of you. I feel a lot less alone when I can come here. I feel like this journey isn’t just mine as we are all part of the Church.

“no one is an island unto them selves” - actually a whole book by Thomas Merton =)

I understand your frustration. Don’t hide your light under a bushel basket though. No prophet is accepted in his own country, but there comes a time also to shake the dust off ones sandals… Speak the truth in love, and if you are met with criticism, reserve your zeal for a time when they are more open to it. Until then just shower your love on them in other ways and let your frustration and sadness motivate you to offer up your daily duties and devotions for their sanctification. Do everything as though their souls (and your own) depended on pouring love and diligence into every duty, thought and word. God sees all of your sacrifices, and he knows just what each of us needs and when we are ready to receive it.
