Pachamama Catechisis at a Vatican Christmas concert?

While it seems like it was a brief stunt at the concert, it is nonetheless embarrassing. Like the huge debacle at the start of the Amazon synod, doesn’t anybody screen these things before they actually take place?

It would be one thing if more cardinals and bishops did their jobs and spoke out agianst the blatant idolatry of the Nachomama. Sadly, they don’t. So it is up to us to call it out. We are allowed to criticize the Pope, especially when he is blatantly wrong.

To say we have no place to criticize the pope is clericalism.

There is plenty of idolatry practices by those who claim to be faithful followers of the Church and of Christ.

More people should be concerned with their own forms of idolatry; power, money, sex, et. al., and be less concerned with the actions of others that may jeopardize those people’s salvation, but have nothing to do with their own salvation.

Nobody forced all that audience to do what the girl said. It really looked rather foolish, some bored Europeans of all ages trying on the spiritism of the indigenous people of “the colonies”. They all looked so bored and kinda dumb. I don’t know the source of their boredom but I hope is not with their own faith.
I offer up prayers, to St. Martyr Archdeacon Stephen, to inspire the good Christians in and about Rome to be happier with our very rich faith and protect them from temptations and attacks.

The problem with which we are faced currently, is best summed up by St John Vianney:

“A priest goes to Heaven or a priest goes to Hell with a thousand people behind.”

The problem is not saying anything when a priest is clearly wrong has helped get the Chuch in the mess she is in. One should be careful how they do it but they should do it. Its really sad seeing priest breaking the first two commandments.

In the article it says that"Pachamama" is a demon. Is that right?
The article says that the young lady says that “Hicha Guaia” is a demon and the same as the “Pachamama”. Is this correct?

The constant heckling aimed at Church leadership does more harm than good, to the hecklers as well as the Church.

So who is in the proper position to correct bishops, archbishops, etc? Are they ever corrected? When they do strange things publicly, can’t they be called out publicly? At least for clarification?
When it’s the leaders of our Church, are we literally supposed to pretend everything is normal and good?

That seems pretty cringe, but to be quite frank, I don’t care. It’s not as if the indefectibility of the Church is compromised because some people put their hands over their chest.

Each one of the points made in that article holds true and reminds us of how we, as Catholics, should act. It’s sad that any site had to post something like that or that it had to be written in the first place, but in our consumer world, if things don’t go the way we want or think they should, people are prone to take to the internet instead of following the proper channels or simply falling back on trusting that God knows what He is doing in guiding His Church.
I understand what you are saying. You make some very good points and so does the article. I am not sure it works in every situation, such as with the article in the OP. It is a news article and people are going to read it and comment because unfortunately we are in the age of the internet and unfortunately Pope Francis is the first Pope to really be hit with the news media and social media in such a way as we see today. News articles about the pope are everywhere.

IMHO I believe we can disagree with Pope Francis when he is nont speaking infallibly but just like any member in our family or anyone in authority that we disagree with, we need to be respectful.

I personally hope the next Pope is not friendly to all this indigenous god/ goddess business.

Having said that, I’m done getting wound up about it. I don’t think it’s going to bring the Church to an end and I don’t want to live my Catholic life in a constant state of looking for Pachamama references under every bush and getting wound up about them.

All I’m going to say is this…
Sometimes I think it’s almost not that helpful to be able to know instantly everything that happens in Rome. Now, I do love being able to watch the Pope’s Christmas Eve Mass… But sometimes I think lay people spend too much time stalking the Vatican.
Just love Jesus, love the Pope, love the church, pray for the Church and the Pope, and focus on what God has given you to deal with… Like your family and your personal sanctification. I may disagree with what happened… But I’m not the Pope, and it’s not my place to be his armchair inquisition.

Does someone have the text of the message given?

Not selected bits, but the entire text?

Who is this “Dynamic Women of Faith”? Do I owe 100% obedience to them, whoever they are?
Should I obey “Dynamic Women of Faith”, or my own well-formed conscience?

This story was originally broken by Italian journalist Marco Tosatti on 25 December 2019, the concert having been recorded some days earlier. The piece entitled “ VIGILIA DI NATALE IN VATICANO, OMAGGI ALLA PACHAMAMA. MONDOVISIONE. “

Translated as “CHRISTMAS EVE IN THE VATICAN, TRIBUTES TO PACHAMAMA. Worldvision.”

His report ((in Italian) is to be found here: https://www.marcotosatti.com/2019/1...-vaticano-omaggi-alla-pachamama-mondovisione/

I was unaware of this television broadcast until a few hours ago, however the report linked to, states that it was made in the presence of 5000 people and the show was watched by 2000 000 people. I strongly suspect that the Vatican was happy to facilitate this production and distribution, so I would appreciate your reasons for suggesting why attention to this matter should not be drawn to English speaking Catholics.
