I think you might not see an English transcript of a pop charity concert from the Vatican.
Ahhh, I thought this was a Catechesis session at a Vatican Christmas event. Pop charity concert is a whole different kettle of fish.
Can you give us a benign explanation of the Earth Mother moment?
I’ve never heard of an “Earth Mother movement”.

Sorry, I meant the three minutes or so that was spent at the Vatican-sponsored pop charity Christmas concert with the lady from South America feeling the spirit of Mother Earth. You know, in the video in the first article? The very subject of this thread?

Official statements from the Vatican are published in text form on the Vatican website. It is perfectly normal to ask to see the transcript.

If, on the other hand, this is a charity pop concert that simply happened on Vatican grounds, then there is noting to blame on our Holy Father.

Last, the phrase “Mother Earth” has been used in a cherished Catholic prayer, the Canticle of St Francis. It is not a “bad word”.

When will pachamama finally die and become nothing more than an embarrassing footnote of Catholic Church history? 🤦‍♂️

Yes but I don’t know that there is a full article about the concert that contains a full transcript.

“Respect for life and for the dignity of the human person also extends to the rest of creation, which is called to join man in praising God.” - John Paul II, 1990 World Day of Peace Message , no. 16.

“Our very contract with nature has a deep restorative power; contemplation of its magnificence imparts peace and serenity.” - John Paul II, 1990 World Day of Peace Message , no. 14.

“the Catholic Church rejects nothing of what is true and holy in these religions. She has a high regard for the manner of life and conduct, the precepts and doctrines which, although differing in many ways from her own teaching, nevertheless often reflect a ray of that truth which enlightens all men” ( Nostra aetate, n. 2).

I believe that idolatry is very, very grave.

“the idolatry of the market. The fragile, vulnerable person finds himself “defenceless before the interests of a deified market, which become the only rule” (Evangelii gaudium, 56; see Laudato si’, 56). Today, some economic sectors exercise more power than the States themselves (cf. Laudato si’, 196): a reality that is even more evident in times of globalization of speculative capital. The principle of profit maximization, isolated from all other considerations, leads to a model of exclusion – automatic, no? – that violently inflicts on those who suffer its social and economic costs in the present, while condemning future generations to pay for its environmental costs.” Pope Francis 15/11/19

Pope Francis is talking about market sectors and corporations committing bad acts, which can be seen as idolatry. However, while idolatry of profit by corporations, business entities and market sectors is worthy of being criticized and condemned, isn’t it worse when the leaders of the Church appear to be worshipping idols?

Something for you to contemplate… Jeremiah 5

21 Hear this, O foolish and senseless people,
who have eyes, but do not see,
who have ears, but do not hear.

22 Do you not fear me? says the Lord;
Do you not tremble before me?
I placed the sand as a boundary for the sea,
a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass;
though the waves toss, they cannot prevail,
though they roar, they cannot pass over it.

23 But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart;
they have turned aside and gone away.

24 They do not say in their hearts,
“Let us fear the Lord our God,
who gives the rain in its season,
the autumn rain and the spring rain,
and keeps for us
the weeks appointed for the harvest.”

25 Your iniquities have turned these away,
and your sins have deprived you of good.

26 For scoundrels are found among my people;
they take over the goods of others.
Like fowlers they set a trap;[d]
they catch human beings.

27 Like a cage full of birds,
their houses are full of treachery;
therefore they have become great and rich,

28 they have grown fat and sleek.
They know no limits in deeds of wickedness;
they do not judge with justice
the cause of the orphan, to make it prosper,
and they do not defend the rights of the needy.

29 Shall I not punish them for these things?
says the Lord,
and shall I not bring retribution
on a nation such as this?

30 An appalling and horrible thing
has happened in the land:

31 the prophets prophesy falsely,
and the priests rule as the prophets direct;[e]
my people love to have it so,
but what will you do when the end comes?
