Just wanted to recommend this terrific book on Padre Pio.

Padre Pio, Man of Hope. By Renzo Allegri

It tells his life story and, as any biography of him would have to do, tells about some of the miracles that occurred through his prayers.

But it does not focus on the miracles alone or blow them out of proportion. I came away really loving Padre Pio. He is shown as a fatherly man with a warm personality and a sense of humor, as well as remarkable devotion to God.
 
DS read this book during his Confirmation essay research (St. Pio is his chosen Saint).

I second the reccomendation!

My son also chose St. Pio as his saint for his confirmation this year. He did a lot of research but he didn’t read that book.

We bought 2 books to keep, and then other research. This one was written by a non-Catholic, it gave an interesting perspective.

I think it is fantastic that these young men chose St. Pio, a man who battled so hard against the Devil! These young Christian Soldiers will have an amazing patron.

Apparently Padre Pio had a great affection for America and was quoted as saying he wished all Americans would be his spiritual children.
