I remember reading here an old thread about which way padre pio faced during some of his masses. I have seen a video of him saying mass facing the populance. It is a video of his last mass. He was NOT celebrating Tridentine “style” . FWIW

FYI…The Tridentine Mass is not a “style”…or a “fad”…or any other degrading label one may try to give it.

FYI next time offer some corrective suggestions instead of just pointing out mistake. Pooh poohing my incorrect useage of terminology does nothing for me if you don’t offer the correct terms.

Anywho I’ve added my two cents worth on the subject.

I don’t think he was celebrating the SPM either. He was likely celebrating the Dialogue Mass – an interim Mass between the TLM and the SPM.

(SPM = Superior Pauline Mass)

No, the Dialogue Mass is not different from the Tridentine Mass, it is just one way of conducting it. In a low Tridentine Mass, the responses are either said by the server “for” the people, or by the server “and” the people. When it is the latter, it is called a Dialogue Mass. The practice began to take impulse in the 1920s. Maybe you are thinking of the 1965/1967 rubrics?

My mistake. I have read where the 1965-1967 rubrics WAS the dialogue Mass. Mea culpa.

It was a corrective suggestion…this isn’t a matter of terminology…it is a matter of blatantly being wrong. That is my 2 cents.

One other nit pick.

It is not “Padre Pio” it is either St Padre Pio or St Pio.

if you want to nit pick
Really its not a nit pick, it is showing respect.

He may not have been a Saint when the video was made but he is a Saint when this thread was posted.
