Greetings from Australia!,
I am on the verge of conversion to the Church from an Evangelical Anglican background and was wondering whether i might pose a question concerning one objection I have been faced with by my evangelical friends which I call the “Infiltration by pagan philosophy” objection. In essence, the objection is that the early church was " infiltrated" by various strands of platonic thought which led to the inevitable corruption of “apostolic teaching”- i.e the Real Presence etc
I understand that similarity between Catholic doctrine and aspects of Greek philosophy does not necessarily imply a common origin.
How might I go about explaining this to my evangelical friends?
Thanks in advance!
