About 7 months ago I moved to this area to start a new job. This area is bursting with population growth, houses and commercial centers are going up all over the place, and I thought that surely with all the people in this area, with all the places to meet people, I surely would make some friends and start a new life.

The actual fact is that this has not happened at all, and while I was depressed beforehand, I’m even more so now. I haven’t really met many people at work. I’m my mid-twenties. There are numerous kind people with whom I work, but I haven’t really developed a friendship with any of them.

When I’m at home, I try to get out as much as possible and not stay in my townhouse. I go to bookstores, restaurants, libraries, coffee shops, my church–any place to possibly run into new people. I run across many, many people, but I feel like I’m a fish out of water. I can’t really connect with any people here–it’s like I think different from everyone else. When I go to most places, 60%+ of the people are speaking in a language other than English. The few people speaking English are usually families. There’s really no sense of community here, since everything is brand new.

In any case, I’m thinking of moving back to where I’m from. At least there I felt comfortable. The job I have I don’t particularly care for. I have regular nightmares concerning it, and stress out over the weekend about each coming week. I thought that in coming down here I’d at least make friends around the neighborhood, but I’m finding everybody to be pretty much enclosed and guarded… I thought I might date, but even after signing onto two dating sites, I haven’t met anybody.

The worst is the weekend. I go out to different places on Friday nights, hoping to meet people. I never do. Saturdays I go out to various places again. No luck meeting any people. So, I go to church Sunday, make it through, but find that I’m the only 20-some person at the church and feel left out. So, Sunday I go home, extremely depressed and lonely, and having nobody with whom to talk. I try reading, since I used to enjoy reading, but I can’t focus because of the loneliness and depression. So, I try walking, but I’m in a lot of physical pain as well, and I can’t walk very far before it’s too painful.

Maybe a gun really is the answer. 😦

Don’t be so hard on yourself, and I sure would move back home before I’d do the last sentance in your post!! That would never be the answer, I will pray for you. Perhaps you aren’t as out-going as you thought you were, maybe you just need to pick one person and confide in them (at work or Church) and tell them that you’d like to meet some people and perhaps they could help you out. Have you tried talking to your Pastor yet? You could call and make an appointment with him, perhaps they have many things to do that would interest you. Remember, families have sons and brothers in them if you want to date, talk to people. You sure aren’t going to meet them online probably. (Just some suggestions, it is hard when you move to meet new people right away.) Oh, and if you’re really depressed, talk to your Doctor too!!

Sweetheart, if you are hurting this bad that you even need to use the word “gun” then you need therapy. The internet just won’t cut it. If you need to talk PM me ok? You are in my prayers and know that I care about you and that Our Lord loves you a trillion times more than you can imagine. :hug1:

Below I am pasting what the Moderators had posted before for those who have posted threads contemplating suicide and who need to talk:

Hmmm, welcome to my life. I think i can relate to everything you said in that post, except for the 60% of people speaking a different language. “Maybe a gun” now i hope that didnt mean what i think it meant man, sometimes its easy to look towards suicide but to be honest, its such a bad solution. To me it doesnt sound like you have any loans to pay off or that you have any finacial stress because your tallking about packing up and leaving. I would suggest just that, pack up and leave and start a new life, what do u have to lose!
Even if you end up in worse place than your in now just pack up and leave again, just be happy. The only person you have to satisfy is yourself, not your parents, not your boss just you. If something mentally straining or deppressing you, get rid of it!
I hate my job, and my location, and i used to stress out and get depressed, now i just go into work everyday not caring about the job, if i get fired badluck, ill find a new one.
Do what makes you happy man and and look out for yourseld first. 🙂
