While the 85-year-old Father Jacques Hamel was saying mass in a French village, Muslim extremists came in and murdered him in front of the mass-goers. This was a very high profile story in the world news. This painting portrays the soul of Father Hamil.

You certainly are in tune with this. Pope Francis has suspended the 5-year waiting period, calling him a martyr, and his cause for canonization has already begun.

Although I’m a little boggled for how fast these canonizations seem to be going through, considering that I’m still waiting for Blessed Miguel Pro to become Saint Miguel Pro, I think Fr. Hamel is very deserving of the honor.

Ever since that happened I have been mentally preparing myself for how to react if somebody jumps on the altar and attacks the priest.
