Palm Sunday EF Mass

I just have to say I made the drive to Oakland today and went to the EF Mass. I am so glad I did, I had not realized just how much I had missed it, and it was so beautiful I wish there was a way I could go regularly! I’ll let God take care of it, but for today, I’m so glad that I went, my heart and my spirit needed the uplifting and I received it. The only thing that was different from when I went in FL was that the Gospel was only in Latin (due to time, I’m guessing) whereas they read it in both in FL. They had nice little Palm Sunday booklets available with Latin and English if you wanted or needed to use that to follow.

I know how you feel! I went to the EF Mass last night, which was the first time I’d been on Palm Sunday.

We, too, had both gospels read only in Latin (the Epistle was read in Latin and English), on an ordinary week we get Latin and English.

My favourite part was kneeling to receive the palm and kissing it and the priest’s hand! I don’t want to denigrate the OF, which I also love, but at the distribution of palms EF wins hands down

And another “smiley” from me we went to a Missa Cantata for Palm Sunday. My OF friends think I’m crazy but I don’t care. Now the Triduum this week. If I lived closer to Seattle I’d be there every day this week as they have Solemn High Masses all week long.

I think you meant the Passion and the Gospel. Most people don’t realize it but there are both in the Palm Sunday EF.

I agree completely on the distribution of the palms!
