Where do all of you put your blessed palms after Palm Sunday?

I hang mine on the wall behind either my crucifix or a holy picture, but have not decided about this year.

I kept mine on my dashboard this past year. Might do the same this year but I’m not sure yet.

I stick mine behind a picture on the wall in the house - I wish I knew how to make them into crosses without using staples. They look so cool that way.

I also snip off a little piece and keep it in my wallet - I was once told that “you will always have money” if you do this. 😛 Superstition, I know, but I’m in the habit now…🤷

Oh, and I do always have money…even if it’s just a penny or two. They didn’t say how much money! LOL:D

I generally put mine on a little table with two candles in holders - Sacred Heart of Jesus and the icon Mother of Perpetual Devotion. However, I’ve seen palms folded in such a way as to form a cross and I would love to learn how to do this. Does anyone know?

Mine from last year was like this. My friend’s mother did it.

Here’s a little tutorial. I’m sure there are hundreds.

Another good question is, what do you do with the old one from last year?

I bring mine to my church before Ash Wednesday and they burn them for the ashes. Ask your priest about that.

Last week I was at my parish school (I am a soon to be student teacher there) and saw they had a box out by the front desk for old palm fronds. I had been needing to get rid of mine but had not seen a box like this anywhere. So I put them in there.

Remember, to either bring them to the church, or if you can’t, burn them or bury them. Don’t throw them away!

Not exactly on topic but…

Last Palm Sunday I folded them into crosses for myself and the kids and stuck one in my shirt pocket so that it was sticking out.

We went out to eat, got some gas at the convenience store, etc., and many people commented. It was a great opportunity here in the deep south to pull it out and say, “Oh, the cross? Its a palm leaf. Today is Palm Sunday, the day which Jesus rode triumphantly into Jerusalem while all the people waved palm branches. Our Church waves palm branches too, just like they did two thousand years ago.”

More than one person said something like, “Oh, that’s so cool! What Church do you go to?”

“What Church do I go to…?” … dramatic pause…

And that moment, my friends, doesn’t happen often here in suburban Atlanta. 😃

👍👍👍

I put mine on the family’s prayer alter. My OF parish uses the palms that most parishes seem to use, however my EF parish used olive branches, I wasn’t a fan of all of the little leaves that tend to fall off once the branch dries out.

In my parish everyone is using olive branches and after the mass there are many leaves left on the floor and around the church (even on the streets, because of the procession). I’m not quite sure what to do in those situations cause in the end you don’t know which of these are blessed and which are not. And I suppose it wouldn’t be appropriate for people to tread over blessed branches or leaves. 😦

Can anyone suggest what should I do?

I’ve always seen blessed palms resting on the arms of crucifixes in Catholic homes and even in churches. They are draped over the beam almost like the white garment is draped over the empty Cross in the bright and glorious Paschal Season. 🙂

I just tucked mine behind the crucifix I have hanging in my dorm, since that’s what my mother has always done. It looks very nice. 🙂
