I don’t think that there is anything wrong with loving your pet. I have a several pets that I love very much:two dogs, a cat and a corn snake. So, I am not against pets or even having a strong attachement to your animals. I do worry about money that is spent on animals that could be better spent on the poor. What you say makes sense. But what about those people who live alone and the only companionship is from a pet?
That is exactly the middle road that most of us are trying to express here.I don’t think that there is anything wrong with loving your pet. In my family we never spent that amount on jewelry for ourselves, let alone a dog!or this

First of all Deb 1… so what if people enjoy spending money of their pets? It’s their money, therefore it’s their liberty to decide how to use it.I agree with this deb1.
Has anyone ever noticed some parents that are perfectly dressed in the most expensive clothing, have the most fashionable hairdos, and are in the best physical condition----have chubby, messy, and ill mannered kids? It appear that they spend all of their time, money, and energy on THEMSELVES, and overindulge their children with food and sedentary activities (i.e. video games), so they can have more time for THEMSELVES! I know it’s a little off topic, but somewhat related…
This is my own belief. If a person does something good and then tells other, that person is doing a good deed to get praise, not to simply help another. So, I personally don’t like to talk of what I give to others. But yes, within my limited means I do give to charities. I do not call myself a saint though. I am a long way from qualifying as such.First of all Deb 1… so what if people enjoy spending money of their pets? It’s their money, therefore it’s their liberty to decide how to use it.
um yes, actually I have done all of those things, including going to a third world country. If you’ll read my username, I “wannabe” a saint—not quite one at this point. Thanks for pointing it out.And Giannawannabe. That’s an insult. You’re saying rich people are selfish snobs. Think about it. Are you any better? Do half of you even help out the poor??? Do u donate to charity? Help kids in third world countries personally by actually going there? um no. I’m 16 and i’ve helped through 2 charities by going to Colombia and Sudan. And you call urself saints.
