Hi all
Pre-mass this afternoon I had a thought. Itās kind of an issue that is close to my own heart, and something I pray about constantly. I guess you could say its about informing cafeteria Catholics, or just givingin information to students about the Catechism/Important aspects of the faith. I personally only got really into my faith a few months back, and I cringe at the things I used to do or that I used to think as a cafeteria Catholic.
So I thought, hey, what are some of the things that are important that I would like to have known? And then I thought, but hey most students think they know it all and wont be willing to attend some kind of adult re-instruction classes. So⦠Why not create (with the help of the Catholic Student Organization) something that we can give out at Mass (along with the hymn booklets) so people can read and get informed!
So what suggestions do you have? I donāt want it to be anything judgemental, if thats what you might be thinking. Just information, big bits that people might not know, about the Church, doctrine, liturgy, whatever!
For example, and this one is a big one for me because I didnāt know and when I did know I wasnāt too concerned for a long time, that you cannot take communion when in a state of mortal sin. My own friends will miss 4 months of Mass, get super drunk night before and casually āhook upā then come to Mass on a Sunday and eat and drink the body and blood of our Lord!
So I am looking for maybe, some things you recently learned that were big issues, or things you tihnk people might forget, or just random bits of information that are also nice to know (like praying to Saints for intercession on specific needs etc).
Any help would be awesome so I can get going and make my little hand-outs
