Given that they never get the chance to be baptized, can there be a Panakhyda for aborted babies?

I’m getting involved with the ProLife movement in our area and I’m wondering how to get the parish involved with it.

That is a very good question, and I seem to recall some thread traffic on other forums recently regarding this subject. I’ll see what I can dig up.

P.S. If you want to search yourself as well, try some other transliterated spellings like “panachida”.

BTW - I may be thinking of the pro-life Molebens that were recently prayed in connection with the March for Life in Washington, DC and throughout 2011.

I’m still digging on the original question …

That is a good idea as well. I’m just thinking its Great Lent and we would have the Panakhyda every Saturday, why not have one for the souls of the innocent victims of abortion.

Do you have a link for the Moleben?

This pops up repeatedly in searches, but does not appear to be available online. The link above is to a reliable Orthodox bookstore that happens to carry it at the most reasonable price ($3.95) I’ve seen.

Fantastic! I think we’ll do that one! I’ll have to get our Bishop to approve it of course. And get a priest to come with us.
