Looks like it is not only Catholicism that the Chinese try to choose leaders for:
Panchen Lama said to praise China policies

BEIJING (Reuters) - A Tibetan teenager chosen by China to fill one of Tibetan Buddhism’s most sacred posts emerged in China’s state-run media on Monday to praise the country’s religious policies.

The 11th Panchen Lama has led a tightly controlled and largely reclusive life since the Chinese government confirmed him in that role in 1995.

They have undermined Tibetan Buddhists since taking over Tibet in the 50’s. They exiled His Holiness the Dalai Lama and have since (as the article suggests) kidnapped the true Panchen Lama (who is still missing and they refuse to let the world know anything about him) and pushed this new Panchen Lama as the “official” Panchen Lama.

I have to try to keep my frustration and anger downplayed because I have seen great non-violent and holy people trodden under foot like they were mice only to further their agenda. I have to remember that the Chinese are oppressed with Communism and have believed the lies of the PRC leadership.

I hope within 25 years or so that the Chinese people will be free of Communism and restore Tibet to its original condition and free the true Panchen Lama. Thank you for posting this article. It shows the crimes China has committed.

Here is a site devoted to the Panchen Lama’s recovery:

If you can help, that would be appreciated. This little boy deserves better than this.

Peace…

A followup on the story:
**Dalai Lama rejects Tibetan Buddhist praise of China **

**DHARAMSALA, India (Reuters) - The Dalai Lama said on Wednesday the most senior Buddhist in Tibet had obviously wanted to please Chinese authorities by praising Tibet for its political stability and prosperity. **

In an interview with Reuters, the 71-year-old Nobel Laureate painted a very different picture of Tibet saying that torture and human rights abuses were still the norm.

The Dalai Lama, the head of Tibetan Buddhism and its political struggle, said he was saddened by reports monks had been killed and tortured by Chinese authorities for refusing to denounce him as a “separator” bent on damaging China.
