Who said the Pope is above divine judgment because he can’t be excommunicated in canon law? Canon law is not divine judgment. We are all equal under divine judgment. But canon law is something different. You must separate the office from the man.

How much misbehavior then does it take to remove a Pope? Could Peter be excommunicated then because he abandoned and denied Christ within a mile of the man Himself? Is that not severe? Do you see how arbitrary this can be? The College of Cardinals then could dispose the Pope because of his bad behavior, whatever they believe that is.

Would you agree that canon law, to be just, should not simply be set according to the whims of any one particular mans desires. The divine judgment I speak of is the spirit of divine justice instilled in the cannon of the law or do you think cannon law is merely made by men with a mans fallible understanding even though it should be used to spiritually save or condemn a soul? King David knew this and was condemned under the very same laws he presided over. Even God has bound himself under the laws he has set for man, or would you have me believe that God would arbitrarily remove salvation from a soul who earned it according to his laws? If a pope be not subject to the canon law which he presides over then it is because the pope finds it divinely impossible to break the canon law by which he judges. Free will and imperfection eliminates this from the realm of the possible. To keep the spirit of divine justice within the canon law the pope should be subject in his imperfections to the same.
