Papal infallibility and pope honorius?

How do I refute the fact that Pope Honarius taught monothelitism? I was reading an article and someone mentioned that case and two other popes that they claim defect papal infallibility. Help!

I’d look for any commentary by Pope Benedict on that one. He was a very influential theologian before becoming Pope and he’s the one that set the example on that one. Chances are he addressed the infallibility issue, which I’m quite sure he would have been smart enough to be clear on.

St. Robert Bellarmine’s “On the Roman Pontiff” addresses this issue, as well as many other issues regarding the nature, role, and authority of the Papal office. It is long and dense, though. A great book for reference.

Infallibility does not equal impeccability. Many popes have made mistakes, but those mistakes are not the official teaching of the Church.
