During the month of January, Benedict XVI will pray especially that migrants “be recognized as persons created in the image and likeness of God and welcomed with respect and charity.” …
The primary concern of Benedict XVI’s prayer this month are the 200 million people “who live and work in a country which is not the one in which they were born. This is a sign of the times and a phenomenon which transforms whole countries.”
The papal concern is pointed out by Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, apostolic nuncio and the Holy See’s permanent observer to the United Nations in Geneva, in his commentary on the prayer intention. The commentary was published by the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
