So far, it’s really beautiful! The homily’s just beginning. Even though I believe the Gloria was written for a Christmas Mass (Victoria’s Missa O Magnum Mysterium), it’s such a breath of fresh air!

Although I was one who criticized the critics of the DC Mass (which I was blessed to be able to attend), the proper music really stands out. Thank you New York Archdiocese!

Does it stike anyone as divinely inspired that the Pope is giving Mass in NYC when the Liturgy remembers Jesus saying that he alone is “the Way, Truth and Life”?

Considering a critique of relativism is a primary theme of his Pontificate, I could think of few Gospel passages less fitting to broadcast across the airwaves.

For a Mass of 57,000 it was wonderful. Music and all. The homily was just what many of us needed and wanted to hear. 👍

I really like your approach. I guess my approach is that I like the more modern music and see its purpose but I love classical music. I am so grateful that we can learn from both.

I will pray for your vocation.

The Mass was wonderful. I t suited me better than the one in DC. And perhaps the Holy Father too. Though I do not know his innermost thoughts.😃

I think this mass truly fit The Holy Fathers idea of what mass should be like. There were no “pop performances”. Did anyone else notice he used the Roman canon at communion? Beautiful! I watched it through Fox news though i got a bit annoyed that shep smith kept bringing up sex abuse. Give it up already! I think This mass summed up all of what the Holy father has taught us this whole trip. He began with the the typical american mass at Nationals stadium and he gave us his final Reverent mass at Yankee Stadium.👍

Mind you as well he also incorporated Latin into the Gloria and Creed.

This was a really nice Mass. The Archdiocese of New York did a wonderful job!. Both here and at St Patrick’s!. Great musical selections and really nice Novus Ordo Masses in general!. Now lets continue to use these beautiful musical selections and gestures in the parish Masses across the US!.👍

Just like in DC and St. Pat’s, the Pontiff celebrated a gorgeous Mass…

Precisely why I wanted to come and comment. I wept as the Gloria began in Latin. I started singing it aloud here - and found myself in tears. Don’t ask me why. I know the Mass in Latin by heart.

Suddenly - with all the varied languages in readings or homilies - I was getting tired of having to accomodate various nationalities. Why can’t the Mass be in Latin - everywhere as before? It just makes sense. If we can learn other languages, we can learn just the Latin necessary for The Mass. Everyone would have been aware/able to pray together. It makes excellent sense.

I agree with you conservative. i think we could have done without all the languages

I loved this mass! The music was great and the homily was outstanding.

How about the pope addressing abortion directly? That was great.

The Roman Canon, Eucharistic Prayer 1, was said at both the St Patrick’s Mass and at Yankee Stadium. This should be mandatory at all masses. Enough of the optional Eucharistic prayers.
And I wish that the Creed would always be said in Latin, as was done at Yankee Stadium, regardless of the vernacular used for the rest of Mass. That would be a true sign of unity. And the music at at both New York masses was far superior and reverent to that of the music from D.C., in my opinion.

Yes, this was truly a beautiful mass. Thank you Lord. I hope y’all dont get mad at me, but I enjoyed them all, although, I did not see all of the one at the Nationals stadium, I still liked what I saw.
Prayers & Blessings

How could anyone get mad at you for liking the DC Mass?

We may question your sense of good taste though 😃

I was thinking the same thing-we are a diverse Church with many nationalities and languages-which is wonderful-but wouldn’t it just be easier to do things in ONE langauge? If I can get a missal in Latin/English, can’t the family down the street get one in Latin/Spanish or Latin/Tagalog??

( I’m a child of the late 60’s-early 70’s Church-I don’t remember before VII and vernacular masses)

I think that having both Latin and vernacular is helpful. For instance: When we sing, “Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us” in English, or Spanish or some other language from Sunday to Sunday then when we sing “Agnus Dei, qui tollis pecata mundi: miserere nobis” we can truly learn and understand the significance of these beautiful words.

In addition to this, when we are able to hear and feel languages of other people and other cultures, we can come to appreciate each other in beautiful ways.

I think that, if done in the love for Latin and all the languages of the world we can become closer together.

All things done in love and charity toward one another.

The Roman Canon should be required for Sundays and Holy days because it specifically mentions the Early Martyrs by name. None of this Mary virgin mother apostles etc If they died for the faith, we could at least remember them in the Eucharistic Prayer by their names. Plus the wording retains the sacredness as was meant for the Liturgy.

I had the great blessing of attending the Papal Mass at Yankee stadium. It was a profoundly spiritual experience. It was a beautiful mass and the music was beautiful. I felt as if I had been transported to heaven.

God Bless,
Michael
