I am seeking employment. I am desiring the easy route of a paper route to get me started. I have a scrupulosity issue I have been told so keep that in mind šŸ˜› I am debating whether to go for it or wait for something else.

When I read the Catechism I read, ā€œthe faithful are to refrain from engaging in work or activities that hinder the worship owed to God, the joy proper to the Lord’s Day, the performance of the works of mercy, and the appropriate relaxation of mind and body.ā€-2185

If I willingly choose to take a job that requires (at the most) 3 hours of my time early morning on sundays, with the whole day after 7 or 8 am to go to mass, and dedicate the rest of the day to the Lord and to the Sabbath, is this a sinful desire? Should I turn down the route and look elsewhere?

Any help would be appreciated šŸ™‚

No, as long as you can dedicate the rest of the day to the Lord Day and meet your obligation this isn’t a problem. If it does start to be an issue then you should seek other employment.

I have a paper route. We go in about midnight on Sunday morning and my contract says the Sunday papers have to be delivered by 630am. That leaves me the rest of the day for Mass and whatever else comes my way. BTW I have to drive my own car on the route, and the milage, gas expense and maintence bills have really piled up. be sure to keep that in mind if you decide to go for it.

As long as you still make it on time to mass, you’re fine.
