**Paralyzed women gives birth to son
Nov 13, 2005, 7:56 GMT %between% LONDON, England (UPI) – A pregnant British woman who was stabbed and paralyzed as she was walking with her son, has given birth to a healthy baby boy.
When 26-year-old Abigail Witchalls was stabbed, the knife severed her spinal cord – and for weeks she was only able to communicate by blinking and mouthing words. Doctors did not think she would survive, the Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.
Witchalls, a part-time teacher who was attacked as she walked home with her son from a mother-and-toddler group, has regained little movement.
Twenty-three-year-old Richard Cazaly, a suspect in the stabbing, vanished a few days after the attack. He later committed suicide in Scotland.
‘Abigail and Benoit Witchalls are delighted to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy weighing 5 lbs., 6 oz., a little brother for Joseph. The delivery went very well,’ said a hospital spokesman.
