Case #1 Patty is 16 and sexually active, she becomes pregnant. Patty goes to PP has an abortion and her parents never ever have to find out. There is no need for Parental Consent, her 18 year old girlfriend from school signed the papers. So Patty has a “Medical Procedure” (I call it murder-but that’s not the point
) goes home like nothing ever happened. CASE#2–Billy age 16, takes a few beers from dad, and does a dangerous trick on his bike to show off to his friends, Billy falls from the bike and breaks his leg. Billy’s friend call 911, but other than emergency treatment,(stop the bleeding) nothing else can be done until parental consent can be given, meanwhile Billy’s parents are informed of his alcohol level. Now the point I’m trying to make, Both Patty and Billy did something immoral, both teenagers would face possible parental punishment for their actions, yet Billy’s family is totally informed of his behavior that led up to him needing a “medical procedure” and now maybe they can deal head on with their son’s problem before it’s to late. Patty’s parents on the other hand, never will know, their daughter can continue with her behaviors because there is no consequenses for her behavior, in fact the people at PP will tell her “She did the right thing” in fact they can tell her that when she comes in again for abortion #2. It doesn’t matter if you are Catholic, or any other Religion or no Religion at all. Parental Consent for any medical procedure has to be. If a girl is that scared then have DYFS (or whatever it’s called in your state) help the girl if she really “fears” her parents reaction. On a side note:I personally think all abortions should be banned, but until then we must fight for parental consent in ALL medical procedure to our children under 18.
