What do you think of your child/children? How do you perceive your child/children? These questions are fundamental since every child is influenced by the way parents and significant others perceive him or her.

Children pick up positive and negative messages from their parents which they conserve. These messages are often sent to children through facial expression, tones, attitudes, words and actions.

Research has proved that children are influenced by the way parents make them to see themselves. Since children tend to be more dependent, they seem to accept and believe that they are what their parents make them feel they are.

The early childhood years are the most decisive stages for the formation of a self-image. Since this stage is very delicate, parents are the mirrors through which children see themselves and this indelible mark remains with the child for long, even to adulthood.

The fundamental question now is: what image reflection do you give to your child/children? Do you show him/her a negative picture (image) of him/herself, making him/her feel rejected and not appreciated? Or do you make him/her feel and see him/herself as though not a perfect creature, but that you love and care for them no matter their short comings?

It is important that parents note that, only with firmness and tenderness, a child can learn to trust and believe in him/herself, knowing that though he/she is not perfect, but his/her parents loves and cherishes him/her even in his/her short comings. This single assurance can turn a criminal into a saint overnight.

PARENTS SHOULD KINDLY HELP THEIR CHILDREN HAVE TRUST AND BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES BY REFLECTING A POSITIVE IMAGE OF THE CHILLD.
