I am wondering about something, if a parent curses their children, does it have any effect on their children? does it actually work? does anyone know? or are things like that not real? I’m wondering this because the parents have authority over the children and can bless them, but what if a parent did the opposite and cursed?

thank you!

My mother cursed me, and quite vigorously!

Today I’m the only person in the family with a college degree (and a Master’s, to boot!), my husband and I have 5 beautiful, healthy children and one on the way, a gorgeous house, running cars, food, wonderful friends…

God has seen to it to care for me even when she didn’t. 😃

I don’t think a parent can really curse their child. God will handle that. 😉

Well, they kid’s going to curse too then, and that’s no good.

Millions of kinds of educations results in thousands of different people…

This isn’t the Old Testament…

God doesn’t really pay attention when we tell him anything anymore, good or bad. I guess it’s for the best so we don’t have another Curse of Ham happening again…

It might, and it might not have a negative effect. I don’t like the idea of swearing at children however.

I heard a story where a father cursed his daughter and she became possessed later on 😦 I don’t know… maybe it depends on how seriously they do it and what they actually say. I know there are cases also where parents “give” their child to the devil before they are born, and then awful things happen to them afterwards, but maybe that’s something different.

What if a parent says to their son or daughter, that they “go to hell” or “go to the devil” etc? what if they mean it?

Just trying to understand 🙂 I wouldn’t want to think anything that’s exclusive to the Old Testament either. I know many things are different now than they were then.

But I was thinking, if parents can bless their children…if they can also curse. If I had children I would never want to curse them though only bless them 😦

Cursing is different to swearing!

a formula or charm intended to cause such misfortune to another.
the act of reciting such a formula.

vulgar slang.
