My wife no longer has to beg us to go to Mass, we look forward to it. Over Easter, our children quietly sat through 4 masses in 4 different churches in 4 days.
I can testify to that…its pretty cool, especally since the youngest had to spend his birthday morning in church…the oldest remarked to me “thats the most Masses I ever atteneded in a row, I must be really holy now!”

Its a huge change from anything I am used to. My parents attended my Confirmation, but griped about having to go to Mass on a Thursday (thats when my Confirmation was) I much to my disappointment we came home and ate pizza…I wanted to pray after…I still had little clue about my Catholic faith then, as my real conversion came two years later at WYD. But its true, not all parents are supportive, even Catholic ones. To this day my parents attend Mass weekly but mock me for wanting to go Daily, and other things that I do that are Catholic. Its not an easy road, but I must remain grateful that they are attending Mass on most Sundays.

I wish you well on your faith journey, and as I have learned, rely on the family that God has given you, you will always want approval from your parents, but in the end its the love you give to those who love you that will help you grow enough to help those its hard to care for sometimes.

Sparkle, I also converted this Easter Vigil. It was a beautiful mass, and a night I’ll never forget. I was lucky enough to put out of my mind the things my dad said to me. He’s not anti-catholic. I think he’s anti-church. He doesn’t want anything to do with any of it. I swear he thinks every church is like a scamming televanglist program. My parents don’t live in my town, but my mom and a few other relatives came for me, so it turned out ok. Frankly I was so excited and blessed to be received into the church, nothing could have dampened the evening. I don’t know how or if I’ll bring the subject up to my dad. But as I don’t see him that often, mostly calls and emails, I don’t know that it will come up. But it does sadden me, I would love to share with them the joy and fullness the church could bring them.

You ALL are so dear, and your stories so special to me. Thank you all for sharing them with me. I see now, I am not alone in all this “family stuff”–that it is so common. For our dear Lord says: “We will be persecuted for our faith–that we should expect it”–what else is new really? And how God calls each and every one of us, everyone one of us reading this, to live the Christian Life for our circle, our family, our spouses and our children, our world. This is a most hard job isn’t it?

Here, I thought that my Dad, a Protestant pastor had it all together, and my entire family as well, probably 6 pastors in there, all in their little Protestant break-off churches. Well, they all love the Lord with all their heart, that’s what matters really, but once again, I’m reminded that the Protestant experiment is the wrong one. What a joy for me to know Christ in His true Catholic Church, even if many reject it, as they have in all of your lives as well, we must hold to the Truth, and be faithful, nonetheless. Even if all crumbles beneath our feet. Right? I aM SOO thankful that I am the first and only Catholic in my family since the Reformation, and I know God has many jobs for me, as He does for you all as well.

Thank you so much my Friends for writing. Know, how special you all are.
