tithing.QUOTE]Unfortunately, most Roman Catholics do not financially support their churches like Protestants do. It is not at all uncommon for Protestant Churches to REQUIRE
Or what? Are the people who do not tithe excommunicated, shunned; what right does a church pastor have to decide what the parishioners can afford to donate?
**How’s this for a OR WHAT? My second husband and were newly married when the gentlemen from the Presbyterian Church came to call and ask what our pledge would be for the year…??? I said we don’t attend church…and here’s what they said…OK…then we will remove your name from the membership of the First Presbyterian Church. What? They repeated it…and I said…go right ahead and do it since we won’t be forced by your threats to pledge a certain amount of money…
Fast forward a number of years…I was not removed from First Presyberian membership…but I am now as I have informed them that I am a Roman Catholic now.
We had one homily devoted to finances…we’re doing ok…school and all…but I’m sure more could be given…but it’s very much an individual matter…have I seen a couple of dollars thrown in … yep.
But when we registered at the Parish…I was immediately given a pledge number…and told until our envelopes came I could use a plain envelope with the number on it, which we did…we, my husband and I decided what to pledge and do so…we also give time to the Parish…
