Does your church have a Parish Library that members of the congregation can borrow religious books?

Us too but it is pretty small. The archdiocese has a very large one and anyone can get a library card and borrow items

Yes, and we were blessed with a large endowment from a deceased member of the parish, and were able to construct a new library named in honor of the person. There is a fully computerized system for it, and we also have many audio-visual items to check out, besides ample budget for new books.

One problem: not enough people use it, even though it can be accessed any day of the week as long as the building is not locked. It is readily visible also from the vestibule of the church, so it is not hidden away in some unused classroom. They occasionally have drawings for new books if people stop by and write their name on the ticket. They do this to get people to come into the library, which usually works for a while, as people love getting things for free.

I am promoting use of your church library. 🙂

Our new church was opened in Feb ‘93. There is a Catholic library and seating area to read books on the right near the front door of the church. Also, a childrens’ section from which parents take books for the little ones to read during Mass and return on their way out. There is a need for new books to be donated especially of large print prayers. I believe strongly in having Catholic material available to all who wish to increase their knowledge and faith.

Mine does not, I wish it did. The parish used to have one before the old parish Church burned down. But today we don’t have one today.

My parish does NOT have one in the church that people can access, however, the rectory has a library area that is mainly for the priest, but if you are looking for a book particularly on Maronite faith/spirituality the priest would lend it out.

No and I wish we did. Unfortunately we really don’t have space for it. We are planning to build a new faith formation building and have included a library in the design, though, so it’s coming:)
