Over the past ten years the Diocese of Rochester has methodically and rather successfully implemented retreats for men and women (separately) at a local retreat house. You can read more about the retreat house here . Click on ‘parish dates’ to see the number of parishes involved.

There is not much of description of what goes on at one of these retreats (I’ve never attended one) Naturally I am suspicious of those ‘exercises’ & ‘presentations’ scheduled into the retreat…considering the diocese I am coming from:rolleyes: .

Is there another diocese out there with this sort of organization of retreats?

I might be mistaken, but I believe this retreat house maintains their business office with the Archdiocese of St. Louis. While I’m not sure if they’re “officially” sanctioned in any way, they hold seperate men’s and women’s retreats that are very popular around here. Parish’s go as a group. I’ve gone 5 times with my parish over the year’s . . .

Our diocese doesn’t do this, but my parish does. We have a women’s retreat every spring; it’s become something I look forward to every year. I guess orthodoxy is going to depend on who is giving the retreat, we usually get a nun working in our area. Things have always been very Catholic, if that makes any sense.

Personally, if I were you, I’d check it out one year. If it’s not for you, or you don’t feel comfortable with what they are doing, don’t go back.
