Our worship space at our church, is connected to the parish hall. There are three doorways between. If they want to talk, yell, laugh, etc, they can go to the hall, and do it in there…Leave the people alone that want to pray…This just shows disrespect for the Blessed Sacrament IMO…I’m kind of surprised by this post.
First, my parish has this formula : Quiet before Mass, quiet during Mass, LOUD after Mass. And quite frankly I don’t mind. The noise, the chatter, the laughter is the result of putting a family together in one room. That’s what happens with families.
Let’s see… at Mass we have the Father, we have our Brother, we have our brothers and sisters in Christ… and you expect us to just sit quietly?
Why is reverence ALWAYS equated to silence? Why can’t we be joyful before the Lord (especially after having received the Sacrifice that effectively cleansed our souls)? Why can’t we love our brothers and sisters openly before Him? Would He really be offended by such displays?
Sorry guys, I’m a pre-Catholic so I really just don’t get it. I’m used to loud, boisterous, joyful services. I ENJOY the silent reverence but the noise doesn’t bother me in the least.
