We are looking for an active Catholic church/grade school. We have 5 young kids, and want to find a church with grade school within… As well as close to a great catholic high school. We haven’t even chosen a place to live yet in cincinnati. My husband’s new job is downtown, and we will choose based more off falling in love with a neighborhood and Catholic community than commute.

Thanks!

Well - I grew up in St Michael the Archangel parish and went to School there. It is a wonderful parish and School. Moeller High School is not too far.
Unfortunately the area is rather densely populated making the downtown commute maybe a bit hectic.
I now live on the East side and attend St Thomas More parish. We have a school here as well and access to downtown is pretty easy from out here. Also nearby are Immaculate heart of Mary (in a bit from us) and St Bernadette (out a bit from us). Both of these also have schools.

Just up the road from here (maybe 7 miles?) is the Atheneum / Seminary and McNicolas High School. In fact right across the street from McNick is Guardian Angels parish and school.

I don’t know much about the west side of town.

Here is a link to the Archdiocese web-site and you can look up these parishes there.

Peace

We have family who live on the east side and really enjoy St. Veronica. However, the commute to downtown is very difficult. Having grown up in Cincinnati I am happy for you and your family, it is a wonderful pace to live, be Catholic and raise your family. I would urge you to visit Mason (St Susannah is a great Church), Hyde Park, and Montgomery.

Interesting.
I find the commute downtown pretty straight forward from where I am - I-275 to I 471 and you are there.
But if you go 32 to Columbia Parkway etc…yep - can be difficult.

Hyde Park is a nice area, older and close in to town…
Christ the King Parish is just off of Mt Lookout Square.
Montgomery too is a good area…but Mason…nice area but quite a commute to downtown.

If you would like, PM me and I can give you the name of a wonderful Real Estate Agent in the area. I used her twice with very good results - she has been in the business for a very long time and knows everyone.

Peace

I don’t do the driving myself, but our family member, who lives off Milford PKY does. He goes the route you have suggested and says it can take up to 45-60 depending on when he leaves. He may be farther out than you, old Cincinnati girl thatI am we call where he lives the east side. Mason down I-71 can have its problems but is generally not too bad. Did it for years myself.

Ah yes - right you are. From the Milford area I agree. Can be sort of a toss up between heading around the south side to 471 or the north side to catch 71 south. And time of day can definitely make a difference.
I’m further south - the Anderson Twp area.

That said - just in from Milford is Terrace Park and Mariemont - another nice area though I don’t know the parish(es) there.

Looking to the North, there is the West Chester area - St Johns on SR 25 in Port Union. Easy access to I75 south to downtown (one the construction is done lol :D)
